hello from california. it's been awhile since i logged on here and thought I'd re-introduce myself. I am a electrical contractor specializing in cctv and fire systems located near San Francisco, CA. I have lots of reading and catching up to do, see you guys around the forum.

Where do I pickup one of these Wave-P cards?

biphase, thanks for your answer. I acquired this dome thru as trade-in credit from a customer for a new spectra4. The dome doesn't have a model # label anywhere, it's a corner mount unit with the bracket and power supply/back box. I took the dome off the backbox+corner mount. I powered it up with a 18/2 and bnc to the monitor. It shows a manufacture date of 2005 with 26x somewhere on the screen..that's what lead me to believe it's a autodome 300 envirodome. I plan to mount this dome outside using a ceiling mount bracket from bosch. I looked at bosch's catalog, it appears they have a outdoor ceiling mount option for this envirodome. Do you have any service manuals or PDFs instructions on removing the bubble dome cover. how do i twist it off, is there a pry/trim wedge tool i use? thanks again for your reply and insight.

I took down a Bosch EnviroDome housing that was a pole/corner mount pendant arm. I unscrewed the four bolts holding it and the back box doesn't seem to disconnect. Is the arm and backbox one piece? any ideas?

the resolution is so bad that is useless in court.... the perp has to be easily identified..even then a good attorney can argue the alleged was not present nor were they caught by the police shortly or in the course of the burglary. You'd have to have really good video footage of the actual break-in, their get away in a car tracked to them. That'd seal it pretty good.

This is a wall/corner mount version. I am trying to convert this to a ceiling mount version by purchasing the correct ceiling mount adapter that attaches to the top of the dome. My questions still are, this is a envirodome autodome 300 model. Is the bubble user replaceable? if so..how do i open it because the bubble has scuffs.

I'm talking about an envirodome autodome 300. Is that a G3...??

I just found the software too, haven't installed it yet or bought the adapter. I have seen the adapter for sale for $75 and I have seen an entire kit for $400 almost (soft + adapter). wonder whats up or the difference between the adapter and downloading the soft yourself.

so the backbox comes off finally, it turns out it's a really tight gasket. however how do you take the dome drive out of a envirodome housing?

the software is $500, think you need to buy it..it comes with the adapter. i don't have the software.

Install some good cameras covering your property boundries (side lot, back & front yards, door way entry, driveway) Bullet cams and small domes are great to hang. Get a good DVR with lots of hard drive storage capacity. Now assuming you have some type of solid fence 4-6 ft. high along your property, I would suggest aiming/focusing the camera to only see your side lot and not any part of your neighbors property to reduce a claim by the neighbors. While he may be guilty of the crimes he's convicted of, he has paid his dues to society/served his time. We don't know that and we are not taking his side..but he does have a right to live his life free of harassment if he is not choosing to go down the path he choose before. hey guys. I just spec'd out a new install in a 5 story apartment building. this is the first time I'm using twisted pair and baluns. There is 16 cameras planned as well as a alarm system wiring. So with a 3/4" conduit already available to me straight from ground floor to top. I will be running (2) 18/4 unshielded wires, (4) cat5 wires, (2) 22/4 alarm wires in the same conduit. Will the unshielded 18/4 cause interference with the twisted pair running side by side same conduit?

I'm looking for suggestions for a camera in my car. I have some extra Pelco 1390s... would they work well with a 4mm lens?

Good idea powering the cameras closer to the source, spoke to the client awhile ago and they approved such. These clients own 3000 residential apartment units so whatever they say..I do. i'm their regular service/install guy.

HD no longer owns HD supply, HD plumbing, etc. It use to be Huges or Hughs supply a few years back. You are right about we don't know if the op is a installer or reseller. If you ever notice HD pro & HD do not carry all the proper rated fittings..i.e. they have compression concrete-tight but not compression rain-tight. and yeah home depot is open late and around often after suppliers are closed and gone home.

Use 7/8" drive-rings, zip-tie them at each drive ring. You can use a 2x4 or 4x4 box mounted in the ceiling secured to the joist, cut out the hole in the drywall..put a cover plate with a hole in the middle for the cables to exit. if this was a commercial building or job, i would use 1" flex conduit to the ceiling mounted junction box where the wires enter the room. makes it much easier if you have problems later on to add a cable or swap a cable out.

they're great for tools since they have them in-stock for a good price. I wouldn't buy cctv wire to save my life from home depot. Problem I have with the hole-depots out in California is they permit/encourage illegals-daylabors to loiter in the lot and follow you around soliciting you to hire them for work or something. i much prefer to deal with my local electrical supplier.

hole depot or homeless depot.. hahaah definately not the place for pros..it's for hacks and illegals.

There are two types of customers I deal with on a daily basis. * denotes CCTV Installer/Electrical Contractor comments/policies. Customer A) Don't know anything about cctv except the cameras record, playback and show real time at their desk or back room. They're willing to pay a reasonable or pay for the complete solution (installation, service & hardware) *full price, markup, hardware sales, support service agreement, install from start to finishing. 1 year warranty/service agreement for 3 adjustments* Customer B) Knows a bit about tech or is tech savvy and is budget minded. Has went on the internet to research the lowest possible price for crap equipment or went on the internet for a price. Or has acquired their own equipment used/new from FLEABAY (ebay) or other sources. B1) Wants to pay the absolutely lowest price for the installation and maybe has even started the job but unable to finish/get it working. *sure, but i'll only do that if i start from step 1 again and run new wire and if customer supplies camera, p/s, wire or etc. 90 warranty on labor only limited to terminations since customer supplies materials* B2) has got the equipment but wants labor only charged for install. *sure no problem, we can work a deal out for my install time 90 day warranty on labor only on terminations since customer supplies materials*

Yeah I've never dealt with florida heat before. I'm in California so the heat is not nearly as bad in the summer even in the attics. I do take ice cold water with me up into the attic.

Time to get a new sales guy? If you are the business owner, doesnt this sales guy work for you or under comission? You as a biz owner and installer have the right to accept/deny or bid any job anyprice you feel is profitable/worthwhile for you to do. If this job has a lot of possibly open ended liabilities... probably best to pass it up if not much profit can be made. Sales guys are a bunch of schmucks period.

CCTV installers like myself are to make a living, there is always markup when you buy equipment from a installer/retailer. A normal 4 camera dvr installation costs anywhere from $1000 to 3000 depending on length of wire run, type of cameras, dvr and location.

I'd say your customer can use a good PTZ.. that way he can get a tour:)
