DVR software for AXIS IP cameras and Hikvision cards
dudu_georgescu posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Is there a hybrid software that would support both a Hikvision DS-4208 card and some AXIS IP cameras? Thanks -
Generic DVR cards, which one is the new BT878 for Win7?
dudu_georgescu replied to Securame's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
1) Curious: why only standalone DVRs, do they have a particular advantage over the PC based systems? 2) I would have no clue where to buy a netvision dvr card and how it compares (pricewise and featurewise) with a hikvision or geovision card 3) How did the IW2000 (or whatever hikvisions' DVR software's name is) and netvisiondvr compare? -

Which software do you think is better? Did you purchase a license for the Netvision software? -
Difference between Hikvision DS-4208HFVI and Geo GV-4008
dudu_georgescu posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
As far as I can see, the Geovision card is twice as expensive as the Hikvision card, and I am unable to make up the difference between the two cards. Here are the specs: 1) Hikvision: http://www.securityone.com.ar/product_pdf/HIKVISIONDS-42xxCompressionCard.pdf 2) Geovision: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/Datasheet/Datasheet_4008.pdf Perhaps someone can shed some light as to why should I pay more for the Geovision card. As I can see, both cards can do 4QCIF recording, both have hardware compression, etc. But perhaps I am missing something Thanks! -
Bugger! I have a JS-8RTA-D1 and was hopping to use ipads and itouches as home automation controls (with iports). That puts everything on ice. Also, the fact that the iphone app does not work is weird...as their GenIV surveillance software (for PCs) works ... I just tried it out ...
-
Question: any idea WHY it does not work? I have tried the surveillance software made for GenIV with a JS-8RTA-D1 DVR and it works. Wonder why wouldn't the IPhone app work ... Has anyone actually tried it?

Hi guys, I have an ACD-1500 PTZ analogue camera and a JS-8RTA-D1 DVR. I am linking the camera to the JS receiver using 2 muxlab baluns (50022) and cat 5e cabling. Here is the thing: both the video and the power connections work great !!! Colors are excellent, image is good, even during low light situations. The camera engine also is ok (when initially plugged in, does a rotation motion of 180 degrees up and down, right and left, then stops). The camera's switches are both set properly (i.e. the camera address is 1 since this is my only PTZ, the protocol chosen is PELCOD 19200). I am choosing the same protocol (PELCOD) and speed (19200) on the DVR and the proper camera address (namely 1). Problem is that I cannot control the camera using the DVR controls (i.e. I cannot tell the camera "go left!" or "go right!"). Btw, I am linking the PTZ controls (RS 485) of the camera directly into the first balun, then from the second balun right into the receiver (entries A and B). What can it be? Any help would be greately appreciate it!!! Thank you, George

Signal interference when using Muxlab 4 video balun
dudu_georgescu posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi, I am using the a pair of the following balun: Muxlab 50032 (http://www.muxlab.com/assets/files/datasheets/VE_Quad_Video_Balun.pdf) to run 4 video signals through the same cat 5e cable (Belden cable). Unfortunately I am getting some signal interference (i.e. waves on the screen of the four cameras) significant enough to trigger the motion detection of the DVR each couple of seconds. If I disconnect any three cameras, then the remaining one works properly, no interference. My questions would be: (i) is this interference normal (because if that is the case, I would have no choice but run more cables and I hate drilling holes in-between floors) (ii) could it be a problem with the cable (good quality, Belden fast-cat 5e, rated for 350MHZ, works with no problem if I only use it for one camera) (iii) could it be a faulty balun (No shielding in between signals) (iv) could it be some static, and if I discharge it somehow, then everything would work fine (iv) some other thing Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Gentlemen, a question for you: do the IR illuminators automatically turn off during the day and on during the night? -

Help installing a PTZ security camera
dudu_georgescu replied to dudu_georgescu's topic in Security Cameras
Yep, did exactly that, and I am getting with a baudrate of 2400 (near the receiver) - 0.462 V in neutral - bunch of numbers (in between 0.4 to 0.25) when attempting to move the camera With load, same numbers. In the attic, near the camera, same numbers. With or without the balun. At this point, I am mostly inclined to believe that something is wrong with the camera. Thanx! George -

Hi Mike, When you mention "without the load" I infer that you have disconnected the PTZ camera, and then took the readings directly onto the pins of the DVR. Am I correct in my assumptions? Thanx! George -
Help installing a PTZ security camera
dudu_georgescu replied to dudu_georgescu's topic in Security Cameras
If I read correctly the RS 485 standard, "At the transmitter end the voltage difference should not be less than 1.5 Vdc and not exceed 5 Vdc." "At the receiver end the voltage difference should not be less than 0.2 Vdc." Well, apparently, my receiver has no chance of working. If the numbers you told me are correct, then not even yours is in a better shape lol --> however if the difference is the same on the receiver end, then yours has a sporting chance of working properly. Thanx! George P.S. 1 Of course, I have no clue how accurate these readings are without an osciloscope. P.S. 2 I keep reading about a resistor that needs to be mounted at the camera end in between the RS 485 wires (100 ohms) How accurate is this? Did you mount such a resistor? -
Help installing a PTZ security camera
dudu_georgescu replied to dudu_georgescu's topic in Security Cameras
Hi Mike, Sorry ... my mutimetre was broken, got a new one. I am doing the same readings as you do, but my results are quite different. I am reading 0.462 VDC when in neutral, when attempting to move the camera, I am getting a bunch of numbers, all of them in between 0.442 VDC to 0.418 VDC. So quite a difference. Do you think this is the problem? Thanx! George -

Hi, I basically have two of these: http://www.ezcctv.com/attributes/cmplx_dt_sht/filename/Muxlab-500022.pdf one connected to the camera, and one connected to the DVR. Am I doing something wrong? Thanx! George -

dudu_georgescu replied to dudu_georgescu's topic in Security Cameras
Yep, rest of the stuff is properly configured (parity, stop bit, no flow, etc.) Thank you guys. Will try to remove the baluns out of the equation first thing tomorrow morning and let's see what happens. Btw. outside is snowing like hell, so I would hate to have to go on the house and turn the switches on and off -
Help installing a PTZ security camera
dudu_georgescu replied to dudu_georgescu's topic in Security Cameras
Hi Mike, Yep, it is the extreme left pin on the bottom connector (actually the last two pins). Unfortunately, no matter how I swap the pins, it does not work. Question: what happens if I have the polarity reversed, could I have fried the RS 485 input? Thanx! George -
Hi, What DVRs come equipped with DaVinci DSPs and where can they be purchased from? Thanx, George

Looking for H.264 DVR, any suggestion
dudu_georgescu replied to cctvsentry's topic in Digital Video Recorders
AVTech uses their own DISASTROUS MPEG4 algorithm. My guess is a T.I or ADI (BLackfin) dsp h.264 at 1CIF looks better than most 2CIF or even a few D1 standard MPEG4 units. I've seen the Texas Instruments Davinci DSP recording at 1CIF and it was near DVD quality. Not D1 of course, but I was blown away. And, there are now a ton of Davinci installed DVR units to choose from. H.264 is the standard now. Even Apple uses H.264, I think that says it all. Not to be too hard on AVTech, for 99.00 FOB Taiwan, the 760 is a decent disposable 4ch DVR. Can you pls give some examples of DVRs that come with Davinci DSPs? -
Hi, Where can your DVRs be purchased from (North America)? Is there a list of prices that I can read? I am interested in the D1 DVRs. Thanx, George

120 frames D1 H.264 DVR recommendation sought
dudu_georgescu posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
120 frames D1 H.264 DVR recommendation sought Hi, I am a n00b looking for a good DVR with the above mentioned specs: D1 recording at at least 120 frames per sec shared (4,8 cameras) and was wondering whether you guys have any kind of recommendations. Was looking at the TM Elite 4 or 8 from avssys dot net, however the D1 recording frame rate seems to be 60 shared for both the 4 camera model as well as for the 8 camera model. Was also looking at the Swann SW242 4AI 4 Channel 250GB Digital Video Recorder - 8500 model. This one seems to be recording D1 at 120 frames for 4 cameras in H.264 --> however I am unsure of the reliability of the recorder (could not find any reviewes). I would appreciate any kind of help/opinion etc. Thanx, George
