    Recycling Analog CCTV Camera

I have a question for someone with knowledge of electronics and old CCTV cameras. I have a B/W analog CCTV camera, but I have no CCTV monitor for it. Judging by what I've googled it's feasible to view the signal with a VGA computer monitor. It seems to me, that if I connect the camera's video pin to green and the horizontal/vertical sync pins, it should light up. Have you done this or heard of someone doing this before? I only want to test this camera because it has an enormous lens pack on it. (Enormous=7" long x 52mm). I actually want to test the lens pack. Thanks one and all.
