I'm having an issue that Aver is aware of, but say it is very rare, and they do not have a fix (other than to downgrade to a previous version). Using the two latest versions of the software, I get "recording missing" in red flashing across the screen. Yet, when I play back that camera, nothing is actually missing. It will only happen on cameras that are actually recording. Has anyone else experienced this? A couple of clients I have downgraded and it works fine. I may have to do that everywhere, but would rather keep current with the software.

Thank you very much... that worked. I thought I had the latest version, but I must not have read the numbers correct. In fact it looks like they took down .26, and now have up .29. So far it is working. Thanks for saving me from a downgrade.

This is a 2mp dome camera, and I think the lens is fixed focus lens. It does look a little soft, but I always say it looks like a 1mp resolution at the price of an analog camera, so you can't go wrong on the price sensitive jobs. Attached is a another sample from a different room... same 2mp dome camera. The settings I used are: Aver NV6480 version 7.9.0.0024 and IPcam version 7.0.0.113 ONVIF driver, with the below typed into the "IP Camera Site", NOT the "URL". Leave that blank. http://192.168.1.100:80/onvif/device_service (obviously use your IP address) Note: i have port 80 in there. Also put port 80 into the port box after the above string. The camera itself, I have at H.264 1080P FPS:7, Bitrate: 4096, I frame 7 Auto detect of camera does not work in Aver. I'm not sure if you are using the same Dahua camera. This is the mini 2mp dome.

I've actually been using the ONVIF driver with my Dahua IPC-HDB3200C. This is with a NV5000 and NV6480 cards. Attached is a sample. Not the sharpest 2mp you will fine, but for the price, you can't beat it.

Mine timelapse is finally done. I used a 2mp Vivotek camera. See: http://www.dteenergy.com/dteEnergyCompany/community/monroeStacks.html Running at 1fps, I just pulled a few still frames from each day, and put them together in a video editing program. Some days I took more frames, and other days I took less frames depending on how much work was done on that day. Getting it smooth was not easy.

I would just makes sure I was buying from someone that has a brick and mortar store... a real physical address listed on their website. Then, call them up and ask them. It is possible that some still have the old PCI stock... or at least the listing for a PCI card, and that might be the difference. I also was not aware that there were any pirated Aver cards out there... I thought that was just a Geovision problem.

RTSP with Dahua on AVerMedia
mateck8888 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello: Does anyone have any RTSP experience with the Dahua 2mp minidomes Ip cameras? I have set up the RTSP string, but the video pulsates back and forth from good, to pixelized. It will start out with fine, but then within a second, it has lots of nose in it. Then, it will get better over the next apx. one second. And if I wave my hand in front of the camera, it has a lot of ghosting as my hand goes across the frame. I have tried on a system in the field, and one here at my office. The field one was a i3/16gb with Windows7, and the one here is an Core2Duo with XP. Both have NV6480 cards in them. I'm hoping someone might have successfully done this, and can share the settings they used in the Dahua video settings section. Thanks Matt -

Dauha sells under different brands in the USA. I'm not sure where you are from, but you should probably check with the dealer/distributor you purchased your cameras from. I purchased online, and so far the service and tech response has been speedy. Matt -

I would be interested in seeing that review. Dahua now has a new firmware update for me, but I won't be able to install it till later in the week... I'm on another job site for the next copule of days, but I will report back and hopefully get a photo snapped of my scene. The new firmware is supposed to improve the camera in low light. -

RTSP with Dahua on AVerMedia

I did see that once, and asked my rep about it, and he said it was a product that is not avail. in the USA. If you go to http://www.averusa.com/surveillance/, it is not listed. I'll try the UDP/TCP settings in Aver software. I think i have been doing UDP. -
RTSP with Dahua on AVerMedia

Yes, I've often wondered why AVerMedia doesn't just sell a dongle. Most my systems today are all IP, so the card is just a big licensing key. -

Thanks Soundy for the instructions. I will try that tomorrow. I did play with VBR/CBR, fps, compression rate, and I was able to get it a little better, but it is still kind of rough. It is no longer going from good to bad, but it is still rather grainy. Aver didn't return my call today, so I'll have to work on them more. BUT...I happened to remember that I had a NV5000 system in stock, which is their small 4-channel card. This system has an i3 chip in it, and it ran RTSP just fine. Not perfect, but certainly acceptable. So my voice mail to AverMedia tech support was asking why it runs nicely in the cheap 5000 board, but rather grainy in the NV6480? I'll report back any progress, and I'll check the buffering settings. -
Camera Comparrison - Vivotek vs AVS Uriel cameras
mateck8888 replied to mateck8888's topic in Security Cameras
Sorry about that. I do see what you mean about switching the links on the top. The link that ended in .mp2 was the Vivotek, and the .mp3 ending was the Uriel AVS. But, my link that ended in test.jpg was accurate. But now I have to make sure tomorrow. But as I see it, the AVS is a chunk clearer then that Vivotek. I can see the timer (which I think you are calling the clock) is clearer on the AVS. But tomorrow I will make sure I have the correct images on that for sure. I think I would like to do an outside test. -
I have just got in a Uriel / AVS camera , 3mp. I thought I would put it up against a Vivotek. I have posted the full frame snapshots coming from an AverMedia system, if you want to view them. First, a Vivotek FD8161 2 megapixel dome http://myvideousa.com/proofs/mp3.jpg Now the Uriel AVS 3 megapixel camera, model HD212WIR3 3 megapixel bullet http://myvideousa.com/proofs/mp2.jpg

I agree that if there is any question about altering video, watermark will be important. Yet alll of the evidence I collect for local law enforcement is given to them in .avi and .mpg. In fact our local judges and prosecutor get upset when they get hard to use DVR programs (easy for us in the industry, but hard for them). They all ask for exported .avi files. Of course we always save the actual DVR files in the event of a dispute, but in the hundreds of incidents I've worked on with law enforcement, they always want something that they can play back easy. The shoplifter is not going to claim the video was "altered", because they know we can produce the .dvr file easily. It does seem strange not to be able to create a clip of an incident past an hour point, but it is a minor given the ease of use of the AVerMedia System.

Camera Comparrison - Vivotek vs AVS Uriel cameras
mateck8888 replied to mateck8888's topic in Security Cameras
I'm sorry, I did not know you were not supposed to mention dealer cost here. I guess that makes sense. I should have just noted that the Vivotek was more than double the price. -
I think backup is only going to give you the .DVR files, whereas export can give you avi files, or mpg files. The latter being much more useful to the client and police.

That ESIPMP3-1 looks nice. Is that price with a lens, or without? That would make a big difference. Here is a blow up of the two, from a section far to the left of the view. Not a huge difference, but I'd be willing to call it a 2MP, and be happy. But I can see that the 3mp is a little sharper, even on the edge when I blow it up, but I didn't really check all the other edges. I also did not do an anal job with the focusing either... no ND filter in front or anything like that. Here is the same photos, cropped and enlarged. I guess I still see the mp3 being sharper, and don't really see the soft edges, but I didn't do a top and bottom. http://www.myvideousa.com/proofs/test.jpg -
Charles: I have complained about that exact same problem with AverMedia techs. There is no solution to this according to them. I kind of asked them what the deal was, and they didn't have an explanation. It is really strange, given the otherwise excellent software. IMHO, AverMedia offers the easiest to use interface for playback. You can find something in seconds. But the only work around I know to this problem is to clearly post a sign outside the store you are trying to protect, saying: "Thieves, please do not commit crimes during the hour change". Most will kindly wait 'till say, 11:01pm. Matt

AVS Uriel System 3mp Megapixel cameras. Anyone Try them???
mateck8888 posted a topic in Security Cameras
Hello: Just wondering if anyone has tried out any megapixel cameras from AVS Uriel Systems? I just got a flyer that now is advertisin 3mp cameras. (the 3mp cameras are not up on their website yet). These are tri-codec, ONVIF and PoE. The dome and bullet version with IR lighting is $320.00. I don't know if that is net or retail, but it is probably net, as I go the flyer sent to me as an integrator. Anybody have any experiences with their IP cameras? Thanks, Matt -

Camera Comparrison - Vivotek vs AVS Uriel cameras

Continuing... I don't see a huge quality difference, but if you wanted to get the Vivotek in a outdoor bullet, like the Uriel, it would be model IP8362, which my dealer cost is over twice the cost of this Uriel AVS, and the Uriel has 3mp, not 2mp, and also is WDR. This camera, so far, seems like a dream for [price edited out] (dealer cost). So far, the only down is that it has a fan that kicks on, and you can hear it, and it vibrates. I'm guessing I just have a bad fan inside it. Anyone suggest a comperable ONVIF IP camera in the 2-3MP range for that price? -

per my original post, they do not have it up on their website yet. It is a new product. I have a .pdf of the page that has it advertized, and I'll email that to you. I'm not sure on copyrights, so I do not want to post it publically. -

Ok, I've got one on order. I will hopefully be able to post some still photos of it next week. This seems like a good price for a 3mp, h.264, WDR, D/N, Varifocal, outdoor, IR, 15fps (@any resolution) external lens adjustable camera. What more could one want? Oh, yea, it is ONVIF!
