Need help with Retail system design

I would figure prices for the following: PC Based DVR: $5000 (minimum) Cameras: $800/each Cable: $0.75/foot Misc Goodies: $300 (power, connectors, misc.) Wanting 30 days of killer video will require a good machine with lots of storage. I have been working with Video Insight and really like there stuff. As for cameras, I would stick with Panasonic, they will have the cameras your looking for. Check out the 474 series of cameras from them. Where are you located? Some local guys on the forum here might be able to help you out.

    Poor motion detection

Same Here! Here is the manual for that model, page 68 talks about Motion Detection. http://www.samsungcctv.com/product/file_data/manual/20060816_0_SVR-1650_1640Manual_Eng_0807_01.pdf It does have sensitivity adjustments, and looks as if you can adjust each square's sensitivity using the mouse.

Camera not sending video to DVR unit...HELP!!!

Seems to be a cable issue but hard to tell. I take it you don't have any cable testing equipment? What type of connectors are you using? Can you hook the cable up to the monitor output of the dvr and hook up your lcd on the camera end to see if you can see the DVR output thru the same cable?

    Poor motion detection

What is the camera viewing? What type of motion are you trying to pick up? Anytime I use a wide angle camera, I have to mask off 75% of the area just to be sure I'm not picking up video that I don't need. Can you post any pictures? What kind of camera are you using? Do you have model numbers of the Samsung?

    3-Axis Gimball from Nuvico

Welcome to the board eyespye! I'm from oregon as well, just a few hours south of you! As for the 3-axis gimbel, yes they are nice. And if you like Nuvico cameras, wait about 30 days for their new Easyview series!

    Poor motion detection

so are you using the software driven motion activated recording or actual hardwired motion detectors to kick the recording on? I've used bottom of the barrel dvrs with motion activated recording that worked great, never had a problem with them.

washed out white in the picture

cheap camera. Its probably getting warm and then you get the bad picture. Does the picture get a bit fuzzy before it goes dark?

About to put fist through LCD

I could be wrong but I don't think you can change your username. Once you sign up, thats it. If you want a different name, you need to create a new account. Can't help you out with your other issues. Sorry!

    Cable Run

I would also try and power those cameras up locally if you can. Those cameras are very tempermental and will give you many issues. If you can cut one issue out being power, then less headache down the road. You will probably be replacing those cameras within 6 months!

Alarm & Access Control Lock out codes

$100 isn't bad for an installer code. If they are not under contract, tell them to call the company and let them know they need service on the panel and they need the code. If they give them bluff, mention that they will be contacting their attorney and see what happens. Also, depends on the alarm, but sometimes getting into programming at a reboot is different than admin rights, so look in the manual to see if you can find any reference to that. Or...........pay for the install code, get the customer on a 3 year contract, and offer crazy customer service. I promise they will be your customer forever! That far outweighs the $100 spent on the install code, plus think of the referalls this customer would get you!

    KT&C KPC-N600H Sample Pics?

Is this the hi-res bullet camera they offer? If so, at night, the camera will be pretty visible with its infrared led's on the front of the camera. This will stand out the most, especially at night when you can't see anything but a bunch of glowing led's...

    Noob needs help

Did it come with a manual at all? I would recommend reading what you can on your spare time without the machine in front of you, try to familiarize yourself with the system and its functionality. Which system did you buy? PC or Standalone? If its a standalone, its pretty cut and dry. The system looks like an OEM and shouldn't be too terribly hard to operate. There should be a menu button and this will allow you to configure some things. Other than configuring, this standalone is pretty much recording for you and when you want to play something back, you just press stop, then play. Not sure what size hard drive you had and these OEM standalones don't hold much storage, so if something does happen, you'll probably want to review it within a 3 day period or so, otherwise you risk recording over the recorded video.

I'm looking to design a system for my house

Your nanny cams are going to have to be hardwired, or at least 4 of them will. there is only 4 available frequencies on a 2.4ghz consumer frequency. 8 hidden cameras is alot, most covert style cameras retail in the $300 range, so 8 of them adds up real quick. You can save money by using the more common style hidden cameras, but with 8 different cameras, you'll have to get creative. Check out this page for some styles: http://kjbsecurity.com/categories/covert-video-equipment.asp

    SuperCircuits DVR?????

do you have a model number so we can look it up? Super Circuits doesn't manufacture anything, they just rebrand them and sell them for 2% markup. I have yet to get good service from their company either. You'd be better of finding a local company with good support.

    Q-SEE at Costco

yup, thats darn near as cheap as you can get. The cameras won't do what you want, the DVR might keep you happy if you've never seen anything else, but most importantly, what are you going to do when the system breaks down 6 months from now? Who are you going to call? Who is going to service the system? Who is going to troubleshoot. Buy a system from a security company. They won't sell you a bundled system because everybodies application is different. They will custom build you a system. spend your money right, the first time!

    License Plate Camera

ditto....I have tried and tried with other cameras. Sometimes you can be somewhat successfull and sometimes you are way off. If your looking to get the job done right, professionally, and want 90% plus capture rate, go with Extreme.
  19. Depends what your wanting to do. If you just want to setup a camera inside your home and view it online, then you can get away with a network camera. Depending on the brand you get, you may or may not be able to record the video. If you want multiple cameras, you can still use multiple network cameras and the same applies as above. The other option you have is choosing a digital video recorder that is networkable. The benefit here is locally recorded video as well as remote access via internet. Let us know where the cameras are going to be at your home...

    Video enhancing software

I have not used any software but I know there is some stuff out there. You will need to spend some decent money to get some decent software. Things like this might work on the "fun" level but probably not the professional level. http://www.sharewareplaza.com/Topaz-Moment-download_27454.html

CCTV, DVR Display for retail store

Another good idea for a retail storefront is to be near some place this is kind of "do it yourself", like Home Depot, Hardware Stores, Radio Shack, etc...This will be your most interested customer for actually walking in and buying something.

CCTV, DVR Display for retail store

We also have a retail location. For best results, keep it simple. Keep choices to a minimum. Most of the customers don't know what they want, so if you have displays out with boxed items right next to them, if they like it, they can just grab one and pay for it. If you have too much to look at or too many choices, your customers will not purchase anything. Try to keep your retail stock to a particular brand that you like, that way you only have a few options for them to choose! We have also been successful with good signs that talk about items, describing how they work, what they do, as well as the steps to choosing the right system. We sell it all, GPS Trackers, IR illuminators, Counter Surveillance (RF Detectors, Hardwired Cam Detectors, Phone Tap Detectors), Wireless Home Alarms for the DIY folks, rear back up cams, inexpensive DVR's, hidden cameras, Lots of Nick-Nack novelty type items too... We also have a demo cctv wall, where we have about 10 or so cameras hooked up to a 16ch dvr, and we also have some channels with hookups so that we can show them a camera pulled right out of the box. Let me know if you have any other questions....
