Power Supply Design Help
securitymonster replied to Tom the Handyman's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
going by 192 watts like normic said, that is OEM and probably higher that the real numbers, thats only 8 amps. I would think a 12.5 amp power supply would be enough. -

Yes, but what is the distance of your furthest camera from the power box? -

does your panel integrate with existing alarms, so that somebody could untilize the "internet capabilities" ??? Will your system allow hardwired contacts if needed? FYI......Visonic has an auto dialer that calls you, when you get that call, you can hit a few buttons and turn the panel into a 2-way communicator allowing you to listen in and communicate if needed. They just recently introduced the "web communicator" that puts the visonic panel on your network.

Do you ever think the term "CCTV" will go away? Maybe it will be called "Digital Security" instead? CCTV sounds so old.....

Hello GWireless, welcome to the forum! How does your wireless system compare to say Skylink and Visonic? Does your system report to central monitoring stations?

LOL, I guess we really take things for granite here in the states.

I have loads and loads of music and video on my computer. Instead of buying a backup drive for all of this, I was thinking about getting a Video Ipod. Any reason why I shouldn't get one? Also...all of my music and video on my computer is legal backup copies, but what happens if someday down the road I have a "pirated" copy, will iTunes still allow me to transfer it onto the iPod and will iTunes ever "report" me for this?
-
you can make stove top in the microwave too!
-
how much do you have to "change" the playlist to burn it again? Have you used any hacks/mods that allow you to pull the music/video back off the ipod? Overall, are you happy with your purchase? Is it really worth the $300?

Any opinions of Dedicated Micros, digital sprites?
securitymonster replied to MattVidionics's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I haven't used the DM units but I will tell you to stay away from Maxtor as much as possible! They are poorly made hard drives, they seem to find a problem no matter what kind of machine they are in. Of course thats my opinion but I've been around computers along time and have always stayed clear of Maxtor and it works every time! -
You might take a second look at the ICR Pro unit. Maybe even get a true demo from ICR themselves if its something your interested in reselling as its truly an unbelievable unit.
-
I'm just asking as I've seen multiple clips from the ICR unit and its very impressive to me. I haven't seen a whole lot out there that is equal or better and thus I'm curious what you've found that I haven't!
-
Just out of curiousity, what DVR are you impressed by its playback?
-
No No No, not shake and bake..... Here: Takes about 5 minutes to make and its oh so good! (The Chicken Flavor)
-
They have to sell Chicken Stove Top over there Rory, what else do you need? I could live off that stuff! Hey BillyK, is it true that Farm eggs have like a bright orange looking yolk?
-
Thanks guys! I thought those game type standalone adapters would work, just didn't want to spend the money for trial!
-
Is there any way to get a DVR on a wireless network, rather than plugging it directly in?
-
I've ate way too many of those Spicy McD's chicken sandwiches already, but they are tasty! Taco bell is good but I have stories that I'll keep to myself from my employement experience with them...
-
come on, somebody.....
-
Sorry, should have clarified that this is for a Standalone DVR...
-
all this talk is making me hungry.... I can't decide between Taco Bell & McDonalds today.....HMMMMM????
