CCTV Customers want Access Control
securitymonster replied to sbbamafan's topic in General Access Control Discussion
www.brivo.com is hands down the quickest installation, easiest to use for the end user, and awesome hosting services. We've been using Brivo for awhile and its great. Homeland Security, Government, Educational, Industrial.....everybody uses it. -
You will LOVE the quality and reliability from the ICRealtime. We run their DVR's all the darn time and they are a good solid product. I would suggest you heavily rely on your security integrator that is supplying/installing your system as it he/she knows what they are doing, especially if they are using ICRealtime. If your on a mac, just run parallels and you can run XP, thats what my clients do. You don't want to sacrifice your surveillance system just because your on a mac.

Viewing Remote DVR on Internet on Mac Computer

You can run windows on the mac and then it will work. I run parallels with a windows xp virtual machine, works great! -
Cable and satellite DVR compared to security DVR
securitymonster replied to bass1's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Don't forget that most of your digital television is higher resolution than most analog cameras. Alternatively, "real time" and "30fps" recording is a trend and not really necessary for evident video. Take a good quality recording at 5 frames per second to court and you have something to prosecute with, thats if it even gets that far. -
Don't go on ebay and please don't try and build your own DVR as you'll be back on this forum asking us how to fix it! The best thing to do is pull out your phonebook and look for a local dealer. If your wanting to do it yourself, ask them if you can buy equipment only. You can purchase items online but you'll get little to no support. This is where your dealer comes in. If your thinking you can't afford for a security integrator to come out and install a system, chances are you can't afford the system that will offer the results your looking for. Remember, you get what you pay for and when it comes to security, you don't want to go cheap. If you buy a $100 camera, it will perform like a $100 camera. However, as for equipment, the least quality I would recommend is: DVR: Argus JPEG-2000 model Camera: KT&C KPC-N600H1 (Bullet IR style) if budget allows, I would look into: DVR: ICRealtime Max or Flex series (about 35% more money) Camera: Extreme CCTV IR Domes (about 2-3 times the money)

We will be there, staying at Harrah's across the way from the Sands. Looking to check out the new Panasonic SDV, Alarm Panels with integrated IP, latest and greatest IP solutions, Fun new installation tools, and meet with the usual reps! I'm hoping there is some fun analytical stuff that is a bit more economical for the smaller customers.

ICRealtime – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
securitymonster replied to DaveM's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Wow, I know this is a public forum, but this is out of hand. Dave had a valid complaint, by the sound of his side of the story, he wasn't handled properly. Now with ICRealtime involved, Andrews side of the story sounds like they offered a bit of help. Now Dave has an opportunity for a resolution to his problem. All of these people, some of which are new to this forum, feel that its okay to "bash" on ICRealtime. Do you think there is a single company in the United States that doesn't have some sort of complaint? This forum is great at times, but at others it really bugs me. I stopped participating here for awhile, along with a few other members, for the sole reason that advice is not taking. There is always somebody here that has the "Golden Answer" and is "Always Right". And then to threaten somebody by saying "I was" going to buy something from you. That's ridiculous and childish! I'm an ICRealtime dealer, I love thier products, Andrew always goes out of his way to help me, my customers love the product, and I will continue to sell it. Come on people, if your mad at your wife, don't take it out on the forum members! -
Best wireless cctv system
securitymonster replied to andaziar_iq's topic in General Digital Discussion
Trango seems to be a favorite around here, I like Microtek. If you know what your doing, Ubiquiti can be an economical solution. Trango www.trangobroadband.com Microtek www.microtekelectronics.com Ubiquiti You'll need to google this one, I haven't personally used them, but I know others have and liked them. I think you'll need to find an online or direct distributor. http://www.wirelessnetworkproducts.com/index.asp?PageAction=MFGSEARCH&ManfID=1146 -
ICRealtime – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
securitymonster replied to DaveM's topic in Digital Video Recorders
So let me defend myself and clarify. I don't think the manufacturer should just "blow off" the end user. I believe in tech support, answering questions, helping on the minor stuff. But to handle an RMA directly with an end user is pushing it. Now Dave is in a unique situation, given that the dealer went out of business. As a dealer, I've been burnt by distributors and manufacturers. I might have lost a $85,000 deal, but that distributor/manufacturer lost a whole lot more as I will not do business with that distro/manf ever again. When the dealers get cut out, the end user ends up hurting the most. 99% of the distro/manf will never offer the same service/support to the end user as if they were dealers. So, I'm not saying the distro/manf should blow off the end user, but simply point them to the dealer, or "a dealer". With that in mind, I know Video Insight, Brivo, Microtek, Aiphone, and a few others offer great support directly to the end user, however, if it requires an RMA or heavy tech support, they will get the dealer involved and in my opinion, thats how it should be. -
New converter boxes and a RF modulator
securitymonster replied to AK6942's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Channel Vision is a good start, they have a great spec design team that will let you know what you need. Its not really the way it used to be. The way its normally done is using a box that sends the signals over the sale cable, but then your client has an IR remote that switches between the camera signals and/or the cable. Its kind of a pain, but whatever the customer wants right? -
ICRealtime – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
securitymonster replied to DaveM's topic in Digital Video Recorders
sounds like you might have an issue with the DVR, but I can tell you than Andrew is on the ball and ICRealtime takes care of us as a dealer. Often times when I call Andrew, it goes to voicemail, minutes later, I get an email stating "Hey, whats up? I'm on the phone but I saw that you called". I had issues with a DVR that would take any and all settings, except an IP address, the changes wouldn't commit. Andrew sent a new one out, next day air, at ICRealtime's expense. I'm sorry that you had a difficult runaround. As for the PRO series, we haven't sold one of those in about 1.5 years, the flex series has surpassed the PRO machine and this is the reason Matt mentioned they don't sell the PRO anymore. It sounds like the biggest issue is that your an end user, and to be honest, thats how it should be. I'm personally frustrated at distributors selling to end users and cutting out the dealers. If your interested, I would be happy to talk to Andrew and/or Matt personally for you to see what I can do for you. If your interested, send me a PM. -

why is auto tracking so rare in IP PTZ cameras?

Check out Panasonic, although their Analog PTZ has better auto-tracking than the IP version. -
The storage calculators are usually offered by the DVR manufacturer. What brand DVR are you using?

Card readers for an Geovision AS200 acess control
securitymonster replied to sfjensen's topic in General Access Control Discussion
You can save a little bit of money, but not a whole lot. Plus the HID warranty is the best money can buy! I'm not familiar with the AS200 from Geovision, but you might look into Aiphone, they have an HID reader interface that works with a few of their intercom systems. You can also look to Door King for a telephone entry system. -

There are alot of alternate solutions, however, HID is the industry leader and alot of the "other" brands are actually re-branded HID equipment. Whats wrong with the HID solutions? -
Wireles range question
securitymonster replied to cjmagm's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Microtek is good, we've ran them on a few applications. The 5.8ghz was good but when you run similar channels, they cross talk more than you think and we were dropping signals. You need to run as opposite of channels as possible. Panasonic i-Pro in my opinion is better than Axis. However, you need to be i-Pro certified almost anywhere you try to purchase the cameras. I would also put in your contract that the client needs to supply a certain amount of bandwidth or if necessary, perform a bandwidth test. The last thing you want to do is install an IP solution and talk it up, and then only be recording at 3-5fps. And one last thing, if you don't have too much experience in implementing an IP solution using wireless Tx/Rx systems, anticipate spending about 50-75% more time on programming and implementation. -

Panasonic CW 964 DVR's and Sony RX 550 need some real help
securitymonster replied to resqinc's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You could always encode the Panasonic DVR using a WJ-NT304 and bring the video to an ONSSI NVR. ONSSI supports the RX550 and the NT304 encoder. www.onssi.com -
Topaz Access Control (GE)
securitymonster replied to sal's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Brivo offers a local box as well, allowing the clients IT department to manage the device. However, the Brivo OnsiteSE device is great, single socket layer out on the network, no managing necessary, 12 months of archiving, automatic updates, etc...the list goes on. This day in age, your selling IP products for the most part, and when your selling IP products, your selling to the IT department. When you can turn up a viable IP solution, that they don't have to manage on the network, its a win win situation for the most part. I do understand its not for everybody. Did I mention Brivo won SIA awards last year at ISC West, in both "integrated software" and "Judge choice for commercial"? -

Bring the 18/2 to the housing, jumper the power from the housing power supply board to the camera. Don't worry about the ground on the camera. -
Topaz Access Control (GE)

www.brivo.com Makes the topaz look like a toy. We've almost ran the topaz a few times but its very limited in terms of expansion, and yes, the dedicated computer is not fun! Brivo offers a web hosted solution, allowing clients to log into a server to access their account. So far Brivo has it together more than most others we've used. Even Pelco's access control was running clunky software.
