    AMERICAN IDOL PHENOMENOM

If you haven't watched LOST, either download the first season or go buy it, by the time you get done, season 2 will be close to available on DVD and you'll be caught up. Its awesome, about an airplane full of people that crashed near an island, and they for some reason were all drawn there for something or another. Its still a pretty big mystery but very interesting! I think you can get episodes from itunes.com for $1.99, go download season 1 episode 1 and let me know what you think!

    Best dome cam under $150?

It will be hard to determine the "Best" camera for that price as you will have to choose from an OEM model.

Indoor? Outdoor? Fixed Lens? Vari-Focal? Vandal Proof? Color? B/W? Infrared?
  5. should be ok, but why is it also playing MP3's all the time? What program will you be using to play audio? Is it stable? I knows WMP isn't stable...

    Looking for a better mousetrap...

I don't know who you purchase your product through but my suppliers will always send me demo's, this allows me to play with everything from Cameras, DVR's, Lenses, etc... There is actually some more than decent budget type DVR equipment available on the market, you just have to decide what fits your customers.

  8. Electronics are electronics, sometimes things go wrong, sometimes they work great! Think of your recent car purchase, how long after its warranty did it last untill something went wrong?

  10. Just install as the instructions say, using one wire per terminal. Just make sure you hook up both ends the same way!

PC vs. DVR for Nanny Cam Setup

I setup alot of temporary nanny cam gigs using this guy. It has remote access, triplex operation, 30fps total, and USB PC Link. Using the USB PC link, you can then burn a CD from your computer. [EDIT: Please no links to your own products in posts ] Its very affordable and comes without a hard drive, so you can put in whatever size you need!

What do you think of these cameras?

when you say "clearer", at what distance are you currently unhappy with the picture? A higher res picture may not help from afar...
  15. Budget DVR's usually have a 1 year warranty, at best. Name Brand DVR's usually have a 3 year warranty....

cheap Taiwanese junk and Geo on same system?

Most companies build thier cards around the Intel chipset, even though they aren't designed on/around AMD, they still work sometimes. You will just have to try it out. Some of the manufacturers I've called say they work on AMD but they recommend Intel.
  19. Its a budget minded DVR. It has poor fps recording, so if you have 16 cameras hooked up, each camera will be recording at 1.56fps, thats worse than a time laspe VCR. It probably comes with a 1 year warranty but all budget equipment will be this way. If you gave us a price, we might be able to tell you if its worth it or not. Pretty much, I use Western Digital ATA100 hard drives tigerdirect.com, newegg.com, froogle.com
  20. I will first say "GOODLUCK" as you will be very lucky to find anything with what you want under the $1200 mark. I don't normally sell this particular model but I have a source for it. More importantly I wanted you to see what you get for rock bottom dollars. Most security folks on this board will laugh at this model and price as you don't get much for the money. You should re-evaluate your needs and maybe invest a little more money into this adventure. Often times a single break in can cost more out of pocket than your security investment. Insurance will sometimes offer a discount with security as well. I would start looking in the couch, car ashtray, dirty laundry for some loose change and try to come up with some more money!

    Questions about ADT's DVR

JMAN, I was referring to his second post...... You would ideally want MPEG4 compression if your going to want to record the most video with the least amount of hard drive requirements. Again, I think you will need to save up some money from your next paycheck to cover the costs associated with a "decent" DVR and some "decent" cameras. You will be pressed finding an 8 Channel DVR with room to expand capable of MPEG4 compression and networking features that you want for less than $1500, not to mention hard drive space!

    Questions about ADT's DVR

Even on a low end DVR, you will be hard pressed finding something with motion and a big enough hard drive to record for that long, mostly due to low end DVR's recording using MJPEG compression. Expect to spend at least $1,500 for the recording piece of equipment and figure $400-$600 per camera.

    KTL DVRs

Have you called ARM yet to discuss this problem?
  24. Are you completely sold on a PC Based system? Have you considered a standalone DVR? Often times you can save money with a standalone. You still get some neccessity features like good recording, remote access via Internet, CD/RW Backup, etc... How many cameras will you have? How many days to record? What features do you "have" to have in a DVR? What kind of cameras are you looking for? Where will they be placed? What will they be looking at? How far away from the subject are the cameras? Do you need Infrared? Color? B/W? Indoor? Outdoor? Any info provided will help us help you!
