Best type of crimpable BNC connector?
securitymonster replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
Now you can see that there is no "Best" type of BNC connector. It all comes down to favorites. I've used BNC, Crimp, 2-piece Crimp, etc.... I like twist on as they are easy and if done right, they work just fine! My suggestion would be to try and test in the following order until you like what you've found: Twist On 1 Piece Crimp 2 Piece Crimp 3 Piece Crimp Compression The reason they are in that order is because thats generally ascending order of cost per connector, not to mention tools needed. -
these guys are also popular. Just like the memocam, its records off motion, has lots of user settings, and runs off batteries or wall plug.

Alot of my customers pick these up: They come in: B/W Hardwired B/W 2.4Ghz Wireless Color Hardwired Color 2.4Ghz Wireless When I first got them in, I could barely tell where the camera was located!

Anybody use Microtek Wireless solutions? Any thoughts? I'm looking to hook up about 12 wireless cameras and there stuff is pretty impressive for the money.

Problem with cctv software or card ??????? SOLUTION ???
securitymonster replied to usnewyork's topic in General Digital Discussion
It may be hard to get software to work with that card as its probably a "knock-off" of some sort. I would complain to the ebay seller and get your money back, then invest in a tried and true card. Video Insight and Geovision seem to be the choice for cards on this board but there are lots of others. Sorry I can't help on your current issue. With CCTV, you tend to get what you pay for. Email the guy, panvigor_cctv@yahoo.com, he states there is a 1 year warranty and if you need to send something back, get an RMA from him first and do so. He has decent feedback on ebay so he must keep his customers happy. I'm sure he will help you out if you just email him. -
FYI, this is good!!!

I went last year but haven't seen anything in the mail regarding "free admission" this year. Anybody got any ideas on how I might track that free ticket down?

pros and cons mixing 12v dc and 24vac cameras!
securitymonster replied to sf1964's topic in Security Cameras
How many feet of cable are you using from the camera to power supply? What kind of power supply are you using? If its a wall wort (plug in type), what is the output? -
Yup, let me know if you need anything! I would call around and find out what housing you really need first!

pros and cons mixing 12v dc and 24vac cameras!
securitymonster replied to sf1964's topic in Security Cameras
why not get a dual voltage camera power supply? Or, you can use a 24V AC power supply and use a 24VAC to 12VDC converter for that one camera. Those sell for $15-$20 But to answer your original question, I'm not sure. I've never powered up that many cameras invidually. -
Camera suggestions for UF500 installation
securitymonster replied to utvols's topic in Security Cameras
if its like any neighborhood around here, he's going to be spying on his neighbors with that much IR -
you should buy one, post sample day/night pics, and then give us a review! Chances are that its overkill for the application and if it sucks, most places will refund the camera provided it doesn't work as advertised!

call a couple of security install companies and ask what they use, then you can decide what you need from there!

Yup, I've used lots of 2.4Ghz wireless hidden cameras. What are your questions? A one bedroom apartment should be a breeze.

Is R59 & R59U the same thing?
securitymonster replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
That cable you purchased should work just fine. What is your longest run you will be using with this cable? -
Talk to Rory on this one, I've heard him mention this item before. I will tell you that if you call FM systems, they will hound you day in and day out untill you are ignorant on the phone and tell them very firmly that you don't want them to call anymore! They are worse than used car salesman....

call the state electric board and find out! most times if you install something like that you'll be ok but there is a chance of getting a fine if you get caught installing without a license!
-
besides, a patent doesn't mean much nowadays! All you would have to do is "improve" the process and you got yourself your own patent. With technology changing so fast, that would be pretty easy to do!

robzee67 or anybody else would be fine designing a mobile trailer application!

This is defenitely a DIY/Budget Camera but I personally deal with these types of cameras alot. The camera will do "OK' for what your looking for. Generally the more infrared, the further you will see. When it says that its a Day/Night, it will digitally switch to Black and White at night which will give you a grainy picture. It will also be very very sensitive to light at night, so if you have any lights in the area that the camera can see, you have a potential problem of "whiting" out the picture, and it can be so white that you can't see anything! Tell us what your going to be watching and that will help. When you install the camera, treat it like your taking a photograph. You wouldn't take a picture of some kid running with the sun looking direclty at the lens!

Gotcha.......yes, that would be nice! Its a pretty easy fix in PHP. I think its "$str"

Best type of crimpable BNC connector?
securitymonster replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
I also use Twist on BNC connectors and I send all my DIY customers out with the Twist on BNC connectors. Plus they are really easy to put on! -
yes, you will typically get this affect with built in infrared. You can always add an external infrared shooting at a different angle and that might help. The infrared also needs to reflect and bouce of things, so if there is nothing to "bounce" off, then you won't get much IR coverage. Alot of the members here understand IR technology really well. They will correct me if I'm wrong plus give you lots and lots of information. You might try searching the site too as this comes up alot. Here is a good thread: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4210

Do longer cables degrade video?
securitymonster replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
How are you sending power to the camera? Is it a wall wort? If so, how many amps? Power could be an issue...
