HELP!! Arecont 3130
securitymonster replied to Securitymaster's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If it is connected to your router then you do NOT need a crossover cable. The camera will power up just fine with a separate power adapter like you have on it now. Most arecont cameras come with a setup cd that allows you to configure the camera by finding the MAC address. Have you ran this software? If not, you will need a crossover cable to connect directly to the camera and configure your tcp/ip settings to the default camera settings to get into the camera initially. Once your in, you can configure the camera to your existing network settings. You cannot connect a Digital IP network camera to an Analog style DVR. You will need a network recording solution and those are usually PC based systems. What DVR are you using? Some PC Based systems are hyrbrid systems allowing you to record analog and IP together, however you often times need to purchase a single IP license or a group of IP licenses. We need to know the following: Have you ran the setup CD that came with the Arecont cameras? Do you understand networking and how to change your IP on your computer? What make/model is your PC based recorder? -
If a camera is going to be in reach you'll want a vandal style dome camera. A vandal dome has an aluminum housing and a polycarbonate lens that can withstand large impacts thus the name "vandal dome" You normally mount these vandal domes via surface mount or flush mount which will conceal the cable. If you have to use a standard camera housing and just need the mounts to hide the cable, check out www.videolarm.com as they manufacture alot of mounts for companies such as Panasonic and a few others.

Suggest a stand-alone DVR - Home use
securitymonster replied to jscott@furrs.net's topic in Digital Video Recorders
For home applications, I've been pretty happy with the JPEG2000 units manufactured by Argus. You can find a variety of OEM versions including Samsung and Covisec. The newest models are dual codec and have H.264 for remote viewing, remote management software (although a bit limited, very functional), and easy usb or network backup. We use an OEM version but they are great. 3 year warranty including the hard drives that come with them. -
What brand of DVR are you using? Most remote viewers WILL require the use of activeX. Giving us more information will allow us to help you.

ICRealtime Pro - Awesome Recording Quality, D1 at full frames - Great remote interface that gives you complete remote management of the DVR and not just viewing of the video - Plenty of HDD space - Virtually bulletproof operation - Hardware compression - 2 Way Audio capable - The list goes on Click this link for more info There are a variety of folks on the board that sell these DVR's including us. Let us know if you need any prices.[/url] -
Exactly what Collin said. You also need to be careful what you run in an elevator shaft. They are very picky and some states have different laws on this subject. We would always hire the elevator guys to do the cable work if the UTP wasn't already there, and then we would just terminate!

We'll be there!

Just goto a custom weld fab shop, they can make you a bracket and it shouldn't cost you more than $30

Anything from Extreme can take some time. They normally have a 3 week build time. So when you order the item, expect the item to ship from their warehouse within 3 weeks. And Extreme typically doesn't drop ship, so that means they would have to ship to the vendor/distributor first. Now take in the ship time. Extreme is in Canada, has to get through customs and then the supplier you purchased it from has to turn around and ship it to you. My point is, anything from Extreme will take some time.

The sale prices are fare. They usually sit on order for awhile. You can give them a chance, but if your looking for regular business, check out: Scansource or Northern Video -
Are there any IP software programs that will work with a mac
securitymonster replied to jstory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't know from first hand but I have a customer that built his own setup using this software: www.securityspy.com -
Have any of you guys used any type of medical alert system in an elderly home? I have a client looking for up to 26 rooms to be covered with wireless remotes that are permanently mounted, alerting them when somebody needs assistance. Whatcha got?

a consumer LCD monitor is completely different in quality compared to a professional LCD monitor. Check out the Panasonic 17" Model, its spendy but awesome! Is this a good system? SVAT CV0104dvr and CV31 ...
securitymonster replied to jsavchak's topic in General Digital Discussion
If your just looking to record up close at the entrances, this kit should work just fine for you. I would give it an overall life span of about 1.5 to 3 years before you experience issues with the electronics. SVAT is pretty good about service and they've been around, so I wouldn't be too concerned about them. Let us know how it goes. You won't find a better kit for the money. But again, this is only going to work covering your doors, I wouldn't try to use this to identify people walking by your house. The prices I quoted were mostly prices you would find online. So the prices I quoted are pretty realistic! -

No problem, glad we could help! Nice install there too! You should keep those pictures in your portfolio to show potential customers the type of work your competitors are doing!
