Anyone tried the new mini spectra dome yet
Graybar Glen replied to cctv_down_under's topic in Security Cameras
I've got one sitting on the shelf right now, but won't be installing it for a couple weeks yet. I'll let you know how it works out once it's in. Looks good on paper for the price, but I wish it had a little better low light sensitivity for my application... -
I have to admit that the last piece of Ademco equipment I installed was a #1023 panel- and it was "state-of-the-art" at the time! Am I dating myself??
-
Ademco must have really upgraded their wireless technology in the last 20 years, cuz the Sontrix systems I was installing in the '80s were AWFUL! That's when I started using Linear which was a big improvement at the time.
-
Totally agree- I used Linear for years, and they were very good, but about 8 years ago I did side by side testing of both and Inovonics were superior in every way. I've been using them exclusively for several years in a VERY RF hostile environment without any issues at all. I tested a pendant for an institutional kitchen by shutting myself in a stainless steel freezer and it hit the rcvr every time- No problem. They ROCK!!

Are 123Security Products & Surveillance Video Reputable?

I've ordered a few things from them lately, and had NO problems. Good products/prices and service so far! -

I haven't had a chance to check out the super-res bullets, but they don't have to be HAD CCDs. HAD and Super HAD refer to low light sensitivity, not resolution.

What kind of output does the wireless receiver provide? Is it a modulated output where you have to tune to a specific TV channel or is it a composite output that plugs into a video input on your TV?
-
Sure sounds like a power problem to me. I had a very similar situation that was driving me NUTS once, and after baby-sitting a meter for a few hours discovered that whenever the air conditioning compressor kicked on, the power dropped to 60v! And it was affecting every outlet on the leg! The customer called in an electrical contractor who resolved a couple wiring/capacity issues, and that was the end of it.

I have to admit that the Falcon had already been ordered the day of my OP. I figured if you guys threw up any serious red flags, I could return it without much trouble. Since it appears that there aren't any real performance issues, and the cost difference isn't that important to county government, I let the order stand. ($500.00 is lunch money for these folks!) The DVR is on my workbench, and I have been playing with it for a couple days now. I REALLY appreciate your experience and your input, and in the future I'll check with this forum BEFORE I make any major purchases I'm not sure of! Thanks again!

TRUE STORY!! Several years ago I was demonstrating the advantages of twist-ons to my boss and fellow techs. Put a male on one end of the coax and a female on the other end. Connected them and started pulling to demonstrate their strength. Horribly embarassed when they suddenly pulled apart with a SNAP. Upon closer examination it became clear that the studs on the female had SHEARED OFF! One of the techs looked at me and sez "Remind me never to pi$$ you off!"

on a gate camera last year. It worked for about 90 days then died. My first (and probably last) experience with Golden State... YGWYPF!

Yes, there are 4 separate rooms. There are 2 existing mics on the Male side and Female side main areas, and the Sheriff needs to include 1 more room on each side for a total of 4. I have specified Louroe Verifact mics and a base station for the additions. Ideally, the video and audio would be in sync. I know audio will take up a lot of disk space, and that's why I also wanted CD archiving and VMD capability. Currently, there are two separate systems for the different sides. On the Female side, I installed a Panasonic WV HD100 DVR set to record at 1 fps until VMD triggered, then it goes to 10 fps w/audio recording. This setup has worked well for the last couple years, though the 40g hard drive only gives us about 3 wks before it records over itself. The Male side has an older system that was installed before I hired on, consisting of a TLVCR and outboard audio amps. I figured I could consolidate the AV surveillance into one system that would be smaller and much easier for the duty Sergeants to operate and archive.

County government is buying, so cost is not a big issue. What tipped me over to this one is the 4 discrete channels of audio recording. I will be recording 4 microphones in the booking area of the county jail, and being able to playback an individual audio channel with it's associated camera could be a big advantage. CDRW archiving is also a big plus. I've used some ATV quads in the past, and they seemed well engineered for the money. I'm wondering if this DVR is a good performer also. Edit: The model I'm looking at is the FA4-120 Glen
