GV-2008 with cameras @ 640x480 & GV-Center V2 question

Recommended Posts

I am shopping around for a DVR solution and so far like the GV-2008 card. I'm confused about a couple things though:

1. On the specs page it says that it only handles D1 resolution. I don't imagine using cameras at this resolution in every location since they are more than double the price. Does this mean if I use it with a camera that runs at 640x480 or less I will see a black border around the image? Can I record video to the hard drive at a resolution less than D1 to save space?

2. On the web site it says that GV Center V2 is provided free. Does this mean it comes with the card or do I need to request it from Geovision? From what I understand it will let me connect to multiple systems running Geovision cards and view them in a single interface up to 80 cameras? Is there any other software I need or can I just install this on a client PC and point it to the ip of the DVR PCs containing the Geovision cards?

I appreciate the advice. Thanks!

GV 2008 provides clients with full D1 resolution and MPEG2 / MPEG4 ASP hardware compression...Each channel is 30 fps garantee....

Yes, you might use 640*480 resolution BUT YOU WILL USE SOFTWARE COMPRESSION such as Geo Mpeg4 / Geo ASP / Geo H264...

Yes, CV2 comes with GeoVision installation CD.

You might use CV2 for moinitoring....< FREE >

You might use Control Center if you would like to configure any setting under DVRs remotely....... < NEED a dongle, not FREE >

Sincerely,
