marine 0 Posted March 16, 2008 I am very frustrated, please HELP! I have set my dvr up to my pc with my linksys router. I can connect to the dvr using my computer but not using a remote computer. I have set up port forwarding like the vague insructions said. when i connect to the dvr remotely am i going to use the dvrs IP or do i have to connect to my router? I am compleatly frustrated, Can someone please help? Again i will say that when i connect using the same computer that is wired through the router along with the dvr everything is fine, its when i use a remote computer through netviewer typing the dvr's IP it says "not responding" Iam using a Linksys router. Thanks all
C7 in CA 0 Posted March 16, 2008 Yes, from the remote computer you connect to the DVR using your router's public IP address. If port forwarding is set correctly on the router and you use the same port number configured in the remote software you should be good to go. What port are you using? and what is your DVR's local IP address?
C7 in CA 0 Posted March 16, 2008 Oh, another thing to consider... If you feel everything is configured correctly and still can not connect you should confirm that your ISP is not blocking the port(s) you are trying to use. Some ISP's block ports. There are port scanning web sites that will tell you if/what ports are being blocked.
