digital686 0 Posted March 28, 2008 I would like to build a home video security system and am not sure where to start. These are my requirements: 1. Cameras must have very clear video quality. This is the most important requirement of all. It doesn't matter if they record in color or BW, just that you can clearly ID someone in the picture. 2. Cameras must be all weather, have IR for night use and be able to see out to about 30 feet. 3. System must be motion activated. 4. Cameras must not need separate power source. 5. System must use DVR that can interface with an HD TV. 6. Prefer a wireless hookup but not sure of the distance the camera will transmit. The farthest camera from the DVR will be about 40 to 50 feet. 7. I have a budget of around 1,000.00.
thewireguys 3 Posted March 28, 2008 How many cameras do you want? I think your budget is unrealistic for all of your requirements!
mr.surveillance 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Questions: What is this system to be used for? What is ment by "Cameras must have very clear video quality" How many cameras? What do you mean by "Cameras must not need separate power source"? Does your HD TV have a standard RCA video input? Can you allocate more funds for your system? ............ To be able to identify someone you will either need them close to the camera or have a tight angle lens. If using IR only if the subject is close to the camera they will look like a glowing ghost. Wireless cameras are not dependable or secure and require power. Motion detection is usually done in the DVR.
CollinR 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Not possible, you will need to modify some requirements.

CollinR 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Ditch the IR altogether, you can't really have #1 and #2 as they are almost mutually exclusive. #4 I assume means they are solor powered??? #5 Interface and make use of are 2 totally different things. Also we would need the part# of the TV. I would say more $ is the first thing you should consider, the POS systems at Sam's and Costco are usually in that price range. Those systems are usually totally worthless.
mr.surveillance 0 Posted March 28, 2008 I agree with CollinR! You wont get quality results with the budget constraints you posted. If you answer the questions posted we may be able to help you somewhat. What is this system to be used for? What is ment by "Cameras must have very clear video quality" How many cameras? What do you mean by "Cameras must not need separate power source"? Does your HD TV have a standard RCA video input? Can you allocate more funds for your system? You won't get Shelby performance from a Yugo!
