improved quality with CCTV cameras

I wonder how we can have the maximum optical result in a CCTV system. By using cameras with maximum (ie. 520) TV lines?

By getting the most from our DVR?

By a combination of these?

Its a combination of the two. If you have fairly good cameras you need to record in the highest quality mode listed in the menu. This will result in less archiving time on the hard drive, slow your internet playback speed and probably the recording speed of the recorder.

What type of machine do you have and what are the specs on your cameras?

Start with 811x508 total pixels (or close to that)

Forget TVL as they lie alot ..

 

Lighting plays a huge factor .. no matter if it is color, BW, or Day Night, too much light at night can make the image bad (unless its a $600 Panasonic WDR), too little still bad, Too Much IR, same thing, daytime no IR Cut filter, might as well just buy a BW camera and save $100+.

 

Lots of factors ... but it starts with the camera.

Perhaps the Avermedia 1304 net with at least a 250GB HDD

The best optical is easy -right zoom on the subject and IR corrected len's

to stop focus shift at night. IR cut filters on the CAM of course

 

The 'best picture' is an IP cam and the right lens with IR illumination to fill the gaps if its dark and a DVR that does not compress the hell out of the picture.

 

but more important is the right settings you can have the same camera and 10 installers and only one might get it right -you have to know what you are doing -at least come back at night and tune the setup.
