ken7258 0 Posted April 22, 2008 I want to see who is driving in cul-de-sac late at night. I have a long driveway. Camera needs to see down driveway and into cul-de-sac for a total of 75-100'. I'm new to this so my questions hopefully aren't to basic. With a IR system does the lens adjust to what breaks the beam at different distances like a auto focus camera? Are cameras good enough to read license plates and recognize faces at night. Monotronics is my inside alarm system and my friend who works for them asked what camera and software would work and he was told to look at Speco cvc627 camera with a Total secure 4 port card & softare. The model is 4GPRC100430. I don't think the camera will work because it's only rated to 45'. What do you guys suggest. I see Speco has the HT-7915DNV camera that goes to 250', but the camera costs 350+ bucks. Thanks for you help.
zmxtech 0 Posted April 23, 2008 You can do it from 100 foot away but the cost of the equipment that will "actually" do it will be expensive. sales claims rarely are close to reality seeing its your house> Better off to use a high quality day-night cam and wide angle IR illumination close to your front gate. [up high on a pole] The 100 foot trench will be a pain but the picture will be great !
