sf1964 0 Posted December 4, 2004 l just bought a new panasonic 924 box camera. l am changing my existing bulet cameras with higher end cameras.l have siamese cable existing for the bullets, simple plug and play, however l dont think this is possible with these new cameras.l run the wire straight to the basement and then attach it to the power source.l dont have an outlet too near the camera so l need to know how to connect it and power it.thanks for any advice on what cable l should use as there are different numbers etc
rory 0 Posted December 4, 2004 Hi, basically the same way. Power to the cameras, red/black, then at the other end, use a power supply depending on the camera, 24VAC or 12VDC, the plug it in ) The power supply can be a single Transformer, or a Multiple Output: Examples:: http://www.spytown.com/24vac20vapow.html http://www.spytown.com/amxp16vac40v.html http://www.spytown.com/ccmulpowsupa.html RG59 Siamese Cable is all you need. sf1964 0 Posted December 4, 2004 so thats a bns fitting for video and red and black for power? Does that mean l have to splice the cable (of the siamese) ie take the fitting off and expose the wires in order for me to connect to the camera? ie use the existing siamese cable but expose the wires? BNC fitting for the video. I use tiwst on BNC connectors myself. No splicing required in fact using Box type cameras is the right way to do it. Just connect the red and black into the power terminal inputs for the Camera, and at the other end, connect the red and black to the transformer or multiple power supply. no splicing required anywhere unless you originally had a splice at the power supply for the bullet camera and want to use that power supply still. Once you are using Siamese Cable then it will work perfect with box type cameras, in fact that is what that type of cable is best used with; only bullet cameras and some fixed domes can require splicing. If you need a hand, I need a vacation Rory
