Mac workarounds...

Recommended Posts

Hey,

The company I have been working for now has its dvr365 system set up and working perfectly via the local network and Internet.

Remote viewing via IE works great but when my boss tried to show a client the cameras via the Internet, it wouldn't work. She had a Mac.

This was a problem I had not yet thought of but I am aware that its probably due to the non support of active X controls. (I had spent hours trying to get the cameras remote viewed in firefox, obviously to no avail.)

The problem is, I don't have access to a Mac, so I cant gather outside of a google search weather there are any things I can try.

Any suggestions would be appreciated although I realise I'm probably clutching at straws.

Mike

Thank you for the reply.

I have been looking into the virtual machine and the Parallels software seems like an awesome piece of kit. Something that will probably come in handy for some other projects that might be looming!

Unfortunately though, this would be no good for our current requirements.

There is an old version of IE that was written for the Mac.

Darn the no-linking thing here.

If you google: internet explorer mac, it will be the third choice from the top of the list.

mac dot oldapps dot com slash internet_explorer dot php

I would start with the most recent version first, 5.2.3, and see if that works. If not, well it was worth a shot.

Thank you very much for the reply Chill, it does seem like a good thing to try. Unfortunately I don't actually posses a Mac to try it out on. Maybe I can wrangle one from the boss for, er, 'work reasons.'

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I think I'll have to conclude that it would be best to look down another route(r, geddit?) when it comes to recommending specific DVR's to Mac users.
