Rebco 0 Posted May 1, 2008 (edited) I just wanted to tell everyone my experience with Rapport337 Professional CCTV Tester Service experience, I bought one a month ago to have everything at hand on one machine, well first off nice machine but the batteries won't hold a charge more than one hour, So i did what everyone might do i changed the batteries, again same thing, I called my distributor and i took it back to them, they tested it and came up with the same opinion that something is wrong with this Crapport337, So called the company and they can't just replace it on the distributors word they need it so sent it to them in california.... Now i have a $500 dollar piece of plastic going cross country so they can tell me there is something wrong with it. I am out $500. and a machine for 2 weeks or more depending on the company....What the F@#$ am i suppose to do spend more money for a replacement, Don't even know if the going to try to fix it which equals to more time without the equipment or send me a new one......Just venting but just wanted to let you guys know the cr@p we have to accept when dealing with these companies.... Think twice about buying this equipment...... Edited May 1, 2008 by Guest
C7 in CA 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Thanks for the timely report on this. Ideal rebrands this I believe. I was made a great deal on one from my local supplier. I think I will hold out and see what your outcome is. A straight exchange on the defective unit would have been great but I can see their point on not just sending out units every time someone says one is broke. Too bad your distributor didn't just pony up and give you an exchange over the counter. At least a loaner or something... You said it was a nice machine, so I am hoping your battery issue is an isolated one. Does it have a focus meter or do you have to focus by eye from the 2.5" screen? How well does that work? survtech 0 Posted May 1, 2008 I can tell you from experience that you can aim, but not focus, cameras using a 2.5" LCD monitor.
Rebco 0 Posted May 1, 2008 I used it more for troubleshooting. And aiming, it beat walking around with a multimeter and lcd to troubleshoot. Just sucks I understand don't take my word for it but the distributors word come on.
C7 in CA 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Yeah, it does look handy to have. Please let us know the outcome of the battery issue. Thanks.
Kurt 0 Posted May 14, 2008 I had a test run a couple of months ago. It's does what it says for testing and outlining, but I also noticed that each time you like to use this device you'll find the batteries are run out. Mine came with 6? AA NiMh 2700mA, but still... Rebco 0 Posted May 22, 2008 Ok Here is the update, I called my distributor and the sayed they got it back supposely fixed but when it was charged overnight and they tested it it was the same the battery indicates only 3/4 and . The distributor says they sent it back (this time 2 nd day air). I let is go a few days and called my rep to see what is going on and asked them to replace the unit. They gave me "well it's been 2 months", But i told them i was having problems from the get go they said it cant be that they sell alot of them and never had a problem and give it a couple of days.... Now on friday i snapped called the rep he told me to call the company directly, so i did the company offered to send me out a new replacement . I received it on tuesday charged it overnight heres what i got 7:15 am turned it & sat it on my desk one battery indicates 3/4 7:28 am battery indicates 1/2 7:40 am battery indicates 1/4 7:53 am battery indicates empty i called the company they told me to charge it over night and test it till it won't turn on again and thats what i am doing now with pictures and video What else am i suppose to do? Now please be honest with me and give me your opinions on what you would have done or would do...... Should me distributor just give me a new one or what? Also found this: http://www.idealindustries.com/media/pdfs/products/securitest_battery_note.pdf It's from Ideal but the same equipment....Will be testing this later ... C7 in CA 0 Posted May 22, 2008 Hopefully the Ideal pdf suggestion will work. But if not that is the second unit and I would tell my distributor I didn't have time to waste on it any longer. Luckily I have never had to go to bat against my distributors, but I just couldn't imagine them letting me walk away over 500 bucks on a product they know I am having legitimate issues with. And if they will let you walk away then I guess it's time to find a new distributor. And as far as the manufacturer is concerned; Hold their feet to the fire and get as many email addresses of company management as you can. Send a link to this thread to everyone in the company you can. Let them know industry leaders are watching the progress of your problem.
mmtech 0 Posted June 3, 2008 i have this unit its great. the batteries that came with the unit went bad after 8 months. i replaced them with energizer rechargables. this unit charges the best when the internal charge sw is on and the external power sw is off. my unit get about 4.5hrs on a charge. If you get the chance take a look at the new Ideal 33-892. it has longer battery life, weighs less and has I.R.E read out.
Rebco 0 Posted June 18, 2008 Ok Guys here is the update, I had to send the unit back but i had to first send them picture of the unit going from 3/4 to empty in less than an hour. Well i got fed up called my distributor and told them i don't have the time to deal with this and sent them the pictures, they told me to ship it back to the company and got a credit minus my shipping costs, I did get a new ideal SecuriTEST PRO, and am very happy with this thing has a Lithium Polymer Rechargeable which i charged it once a week ago and still at 3/4. Also fits in your hand better as it is slim and smaller got to give this item a 10 on the scale, It's a couple of bucks more but well worth it. I am thinking about suing the company and my distributor for the gray hair i got while dealing with this crap.
