bobw 0 Posted May 7, 2008 THE ROUTER PERIODICALLY DROPS OUT AND WHEN IT'S REBOOTED, IT ASSIGNS A DIFFERENT ADDRESS TO THE DVR BOX. E.G. 192.168.0.3 INSTEAD OF .2 I THEN HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY TO WORK TO PORT FORWARD THE NEW ADDRESS IN ORDER TO GET IT TO WORK ON THE NET AGAIN. ONLY THE DVR BOX IS CONNECTED TO THE ROUTER BY THE WAY. IS THERE A WAY ROUND THIS?
coolie11 0 Posted May 7, 2008 Go into network settings for the dvr and assign it a static IP address. Then forward the ports for that address. Start Control Panel Network Connection Right Click Local area connection and select properties Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Select Use the Following IP address Input the IP address you want to use Subnet would be 255.255.255.0 Gateway will be the routers IP address Select use the following DNS Server address Input the same IP address as the gateway for the Preffered DNS Server No need for Alternate DNS Server

rzoned 0 Posted May 8, 2008 assign static IP to the DVR just make sure it is not the same address that router may use maybe assign something like 192.168.1.
bobw 0 Posted May 12, 2008 Thanks for the heads up guys. Assigned a static address and is OK now. Tiscali (crap) have lowered the speed on the line now and the drop outs have ceased as well . . . .
