Need help .. CCTV for ATM ?

Recommended Posts

HI,

my name is Robert, and currently we are kinda new in the security industry.

I need help with designing CCTV for ATM Machine.

but before that, maybe someone who knows and experience can tell me what they usually use on the ATM

please consider 2 option

1. the ATM can be next to the bank itself

and

2. ATM can be standing by itself, like on the shopping center etc2

do they usually put the server inside the ATM machine ? especially the 2nd option where the bank is not next to the machine

is there any specific rule or law that they must follow ?

what brand do you suggest? etc etc

again, we never install camera on ATM, so I need some suggestion

Usually it is the Bank that dictates what you should be using in respect of CCTV and equipment.

An example of what I installed is......

Standalone ATM in Supermarket.. One Dome Camera outside looking at the ATM Machine. One Pinhole camera inside the ATM Machine to view Customer making Transaction and in the case of a hole in the wall type ATM One Camera in ATM Room to view machine being filled.

In one store we fitted a '' I feel nervous button'' behind the ATM. A Panic button linked to the CCTV and to the monitoring centre to alert them if the person filling the machine with cash had been followed and wanted to alert the CCTV operator to keep watch whilst they were filling the machine. This was instead of a full blown personal attack signal.

The DVR was in the CCTV room in the store.

I have always found in the case of Banks, they tell you what they want

Thanks for the answer.

how about if the ATM is just standalone, like near the restaurant or anythign like that

do the bank usually put the DVR system inside the restaurant ?

well I'm trying to get what bank usually do before I talk to them

so I can get the idea what can be done and not

I don't wanna look stupid if I suggest something

btw I found some demo, that show the ATM camera. is this how they usually use?

http://www.fireking.com/products_digital_pos_demo_atm.html

to MOD/ADMIN, if I'm not able to post link, feel free to remove them

I also heard that they may consider rental instead of buying

well, anyone has some experience ?

There all going to differ. At the gas stations they have their own rooms for the ATMs as far as the ones Ive seen. Imagine they have a recorder inside the ATM itself. They have a vandal dome outside in the store near the ATM to watch what goes on around it, and then I guess a camera on or inside the ATM itself (not all of them though). Some Banks just have a camera inside the ATM room and nothing even inside the ATM.

Best just to wait and see what they tell you they want, they should know.

A friend owns his own ATM in his business. It is a rear loading type that is built into a wall. I installed a bullet camera above the ATM for facial shots.

Not to be a wise ass, but if i knew who you were i might give some insight into how we protect atm's with video. I know its an open forum but certain things should stay amongst people in the business.

Hello,

If you mean how to incoporated the Video survelllian to the ATM, I think you should consider mini (Pinhole/core lnes type camera) and mobile type DVR. But you need to check does it needs recording transaction data in DVR. If it does it means you need some one features the Text overlay functione or an unit( Text overlay insert box).

BU the way, if you can not make sure how is the enviroment arround the ATM you better consider the OSD board camera( Pinhole/corelens) to default best parameter.

I would be really careful with this one, as this may fall into a sensitive area, something along the line of a skimming device, not say this is what you are trying to do just something to watch out for.

And yes the server and everything is inside the ATM, I work for the bank so we have access to all this stuff.

I would say things to remember you want to be seeing the people not the pin pad or screen. Are you wanting people to be aware they are on camera when at the machine or not aware?

I've been out of the industry for a long time, but even 20 years ago banks required a data interface with ATM cameras, showing at least the transaction #. We, and other company's that did that had special mounts engineered for most ATM brands and styles, many required right angle cameras, of course cameras were a bit bigger back then. I can't imagine things are any less stringent now. You will need really good back-light compensation and an AIL, if you want ID-able footage.

Here in South Africa the criminals don't take cr*p.

They simply just blow the safe out of the ATM.

From the time they arrive at the ATM to the time they leave is usually under 3 min.

They are also usually well armed & any security guard that is near there runs like hell.

If you do intend installing a camera make sure the footage is kept at the third party premises.

Get a Mobotix M12-DevKit M12 Development Kit. It's basically a Mobotix M12 without a case. You can then locate the sensor/lenses in a tight location with a hole for each camera in the ATM case and put the body of the camera where it best fits. You can then hook it up to a 1TB NAS hard drive like a WD Mybook World Edition and they have a new one now that's two drives with mirroring. You don't need much power to run this. You'll need a small inexpensive PoE switch to connect the camera and NAS too and plug that and a NAS to A/C. Since the camera has the NVR solution built in, you don't need an NVR or network connectivity. You can use the SD card slot but why limit yourself to 64GB and the cards cost almost as much as a 1TB NAS drive.

If there's an incident, you can connect to the camera directly and view recorded events using just about any browser, even iPhone/iPad or Android browsers.

An automated teller machine (ATM) of Punjab National Bank was found burgled in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Thursday morning. The incident came to light when a security guard found the ATM broken and without any cash. Police said that around Rs23 lakh were found missing from the ATM.

Ramesh Kumar, a security guard told police that when he reached the automated teller machine(ATM) located at 7, Geeta Colony, he found the ATM to be broken. He informed his employer and police about the burglary at the ATM, according to police.

A senior police official said, “A PCR call was received around 7.30 am in this regard. The ATM belonging to PNB was found cut with gas cutters. There was no money left in the machine. A case of burglary against unknown persons has been registered at the police station.”

Police said that the ATM was refilled with Rs28 lakh cash on Monday. Around Rsfive lakh was withdrawn from the ATM before the burglars targeted the ATM on Wednesday night and fled away with around Rs 23 lakh.

A guard posted in the night has been absent since March 6, 2012. He had taken a leave on the occasion of Holi. With the absence of CCTV camera at the ATM, police have not yet identified the burglars, the official said. Police suspect that the burglars are well-trained in committing such thefts.

A manhunt to identify and nab the burglars has been initiated by the local police.

i think good on them.

in my opinion, if you are a good enough criminal to rob an ATM and not get caught, you deserve the money. its not like anyone got hurt, and the banks have insurance.
