C7 in CA 0 Posted May 21, 2008 I got hit yesterday. Good thing I was paying attention and turned away from the gal who decided to pull a U-turn in front of me. Did I mention this was on a highway? Well, I was going thru a town but still it's a highway. Real minor damage considering if she had pulled out 1 second sooner she would have been t-boned at 30MPH. Luckily no one was hurt. I'm not so mad about the damage although the body shop did show me where it bent the door pillar. I hope the insurance company doesn't total it! There is a hell of a whistle while driving down the highway now. I've been driving 24 years. 9 of those years in a tractor trailer through 48 states and Canada. One million plus miles accident free. I didn't really expect to go my whole life accident free but am pretty ticked off that a gal that wasn't even licensed to drive trashed my record. And don't even get me started on her citizenship status... But anyway... On to the blood and guts: I prefer to remember happier times. You know, like when the doors opened good and stuff. C7 in CA 0 Posted May 22, 2008 Dude! I wasn't the dude getting. I was only the dude installing. But we need a new server so I was a little jealous. Just a server and three workstations on that job. One of the workstations was at the end of a point to point wireless shot though. You can see the tranzeo radios in that picture too. That server wasn't on the van at the time of the accident. It was the only picture I had with the now damaged doors pre-accident.
C7 in CA 0 Posted May 26, 2008 Yeah, I got the estimate late last week. $5300! seems kinda step considering I only paid $20,000 +tax with the access package. Also I should have read the fine print on my insurance policy. My uninsured motorist policy doesn't cover my deductible if I am not injured. My question is... Does a big fat headache count? My rental fee's for when the van is in the shop isn't covered either. I can sue for my expenses but I don't expect much luck with only a name and P.O. Box to go on. And I doubt she has any money anyway...
scorpion 0 Posted May 27, 2008 Wow! I thought for sure that the rental would be covered?? Is this an extra option with your policy? I may have to reevaulate mine!!
C7 in CA 0 Posted May 27, 2008 It is an issue with the uninsured motorist part of the policy. It's bare minimum coverage. It's my fault for not reading it, but my agent should have been watching out for me. I mean, I have well above minimum coverage on PL/PD because I told them I wanted to be well covered. He should have bumped up the uninsured coverage as well. The money I am out isn't the end of the world, but it's a slap in the face when the accident is not your fault AND it costs you money out of pocket.
scorpion 0 Posted May 27, 2008 The whole point is: That is what insurance is for! Right? Just when you need it most, they go and let you down? What other hidden insurance policy items can hurt?? Those of you with store fronts without flood insurance should think twice! Also, what would happen if your tenant in the next suite blows a water line in the wall, and you get flooded?? How many landlords are out there that are not covered by insurance? I found out the hard way as this old man landlord paid off his building 5 years ago, and now he does not have a bank requiring him to carry insurance. Hurricanes suck!
