cctv_down_under 0 Posted February 1, 2004 Most suppliers will provede both fig8 and rg59 in the same cable, makes for an easier install. beware because we imported some cheap stuff from China and it near killed us... check the quality of the cable core and check the strands of the figure 8, some are not very well shielded. The way to know that you have good cable is this, it should have french chalk powder inside, this lets the cable slide beter inside the shielding and it should have a strip line (piece of plastic insert used for splitting the cable to seperate the fig8 from the rg59). The best way I have found to test it is to cut some off and you should be able to slide out either cable from its shielding, that is if you used a combined rg59 and fig8 cable. I hope this helps.
