Infrared Lightning

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am running a Bosch Dinion NWC 0495 with XF technologie. I must confess without any lighting (and moon) the performance during night is incredible. But without moon - not that good as I need it.

So I thought about installing LED IR lights. However, I not very sure, wheather they will give me good results.

Especially on eBay I found one (eBay no. 180250113840) all integrated

and does even switch on/off automatically. It says, the lightning shoudl reach up to 50 m. What is your experiences?

Or could you recommend my some other prodcuts?

Thanks a lot.

my limited experience with iR cameras and Iilluminators is they don't really have the range as advertised. We have quite a few vitek ir cameras and although they say 80 feet the real range seems to be about 40 ft. The light may go 80 but to view an object clearly it is much closer than that. I would purchase from a know supplier rather than Ebay personal opinion only.

I have used IR in the past and the most important thing to know is first the IR sensitivity of the camera you are uesing. the average IR sensetivity on most cameras is between 800-900Htz. The IR light sourse and the camera IR sencetivity should be the same for the best results. The higher in the spectrum you go the less the LEDs will be visable. for example 800Htz LEDs will have a low red glow and 900Htz + will have less visable red glow if eny at all. Higher rang IR is usualy reserved for military use, and quite pricy.

be carfull with higher rang IRs they can be harmfull to the eyes, and bepending on local codes you may need to post signs. As far as rang it is the same for the most part as a flashlight more power more light in varying degrees of light spread. The Extreem cctv website has some good demo video you can see. The videos may give you an idea of what you can expect.

PS IRs blasters can get hot.
