Frame skipping in Coe decoder

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just joined this forum. It looks very good.

We are currently delivering digital CCTV to operators using internal IT network and Coe's XNet encoder/decoder pairs. RS232 control data is also transmitted using this technology.

We have been experiencing various issues with approach, mainly due to codecs' performance.

We also noticed that frames are being dropped very often.

What can cause the frame skippings and how to cure it?

There are some evidence that it could be due to poor analogue video signal input at encoder end, networking issue, or bandwidth.

Thanks in advance.

it might be a bandwidth issue here. you must consider the data traffic for all the switch/hubs from the encoder to the decoder. are you familiar with the Qos(quality of service)? if your switch hub and devices are Qos ready, you can set the priority for you bandwidth.

how many encoders and decoders are you currently using? are you already using Gigabit Lan?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we did implement QoS.

We currently have about 40 ish channels streams () delivering to 4 locations, of which 30 ish are delivered over 1Gb MAN.

I am worried as skipps are seen within the same building. Streams from Layer 2 switch to another L2 switch via L3 core switch. Frames are tagged at ingress port.

Various equipment involved from L2 and L3 switches, DWDM, etc.

Thanks.
