ipcs 0 Posted July 8, 2008 Anyone aware of a media converter that will allow me to take a CAT5 ethernet cable (which terminates at a PoE switch), and break it out to Power + Coax? The idea would be a device that would allow me to power a legacy analog CCTV camera via ethernet (PoE). Looked at Veracity, it appears they do the opposite of what I am looking to accomplish. Thanks in Advance Cory

Thanks in Advance Cory I don't have the PoE spec in front of me but you'd need something to step down the power and something to trick the PoE switch into thinking the other end is a PoE device. thewireguys 3 Posted July 18, 2008 Here is a video server that is powered with POE, has power out for the camera, and analog camera input. Axis 247s I have used them and they work very well.
survtech 0 Posted July 18, 2008 Would something like this work? VideoEase CCTV Power-Thru Balun Part #: 500024, 500029 http://www.muxlab.com/products/ve_cctv_power_thru_balun.htm It would allow you to use CAT-5 for your cable, but I don't believe you could hook the other end up to a POE switch since the video signal would still be analog.
