MrRaster 0 Posted July 14, 2008 Hey there all. I'm looking for a little help. I was doing a little IT work for a friend at his restaurant when I learned they have a 16 camera DVR security system that no one has had access to in over a year. There is no manual or marking on said system. The guy that installed it vanished so no contacting him. I have gone through many websites in search of this system and I have hit a wall. Does anyone have an idea who makes this system? I'm just trying to find a manual now. Thanks in advance yall. MrRaster

That's the same manufacturer as the one you have. Heck I probably could use the firmware I have on that one to update it if it came down to it being as there so close. Could you take me a picture of the menu actually? Check your pm Am I wrong in that being a Tomtech unit, I'm fairly sure I'm correct as we've been dealing with them for years. It looks just like our unit and last I spoken to our regional US manager they stated that was theirs also. Thanks, John
MrRaster 0 Posted July 16, 2008 I am not sure. I won't get a chance to poke at it till thursday. I will let you know once I get in there. A lot of the functions seem the same and button locations look identical. We shall see once I log in...if I can. The guy that installed it really screwed them over. They had a server stealing product and couldn't prove it because they couldn't gain access to the admin controls to burn a DVD to give police. It's a mess. I have to put all new BNC ends on the cables and replace 2 cameras. it is totally going to suck if I can't gain access. Thanks again. I'll update as soon as I know more. Huggy if you cannot get access the password work around for that unit is. Press the menu key and when it ask you for a password press.... Search - Play - Play - Stop - Stop - Search. If that works (should) I know that dvr inside and out.
MrRaster 0 Posted July 17, 2008 That did the trick. I have total access to the box now. Thank you so much. All i have to do is figure how to access it from the outside world. its a router issue and all i have to do is play with settings. i am able to access it from the internal network so i know the webserver is up and running. Thanks again guys. Your help was invaluable and i will be back. Huggy.

MrRaster 0 Posted July 18, 2008 Darn skippy. Thanks to you guys, the owner of the restaurant wants me to install and maintain a 16 camera system in another location. I am happy to oblige him. I just need to figure out how.

I just need to figure out how. Installs are a breeze if it's a drop ceiling and you're just slinging cable across the tiles. As far as hooking it up on the network externally what router are you using? If you want gimme a call at our office and I'll talk to you concerning the issue if you cannot get it up and working dude. Thanks, John
MrRaster 0 Posted July 18, 2008 Thanks man, i will sent you a pm if i need any help. I am sure its just a port forwarding issue. They got a new POS system and the people that installed it screwed up all the internal addresses and disabled port forwarding. I love living in New Orleans. incompetence is running rampant. Thanks again. You guys are kickass.
