brianoftheforum 0 Posted July 24, 2008 So although i dont want to do it - warrantys etc - i may have to cut back the 3ft cable with female bnc head from my camera. So my question is im trying to determine what type of cable the manufacture used, in order to buy the right crimp on bnc female head. i havnt noticed any info on the cable - is there an easy way of checking what it is in terms of size? thanks
survtech 0 Posted July 24, 2008 Is the cable integral with the camera and has a female bnc and one pair for power? If so, it could be anything. Some manufacturers use RG-174 mini coax or an equivalent; some use audio coax and some just use an 18-gauge pair for video. The type of cable used for very short runs like the stub coming out of a camera has little effect on the picture. The problem is that there is no "standard", so you will have to find out for yourself what kind of cable and/or connector to use.
