FredB 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Thinking about starting to build the DVR's myself and was wondering if the rca/ s-video outputs on the video cards are giving the same quality of video as the vga output. Ignore the tv verses crt monitor and that computer monitors are in gereral hi res. Thanks, Fredrik
Thomas 0 Posted January 6, 2005 It's going to vary a little bit depending on the card. There isn't a really good rule of thumb to measure it either.

S-video, RCA, whatever.
FredB 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Are there a vga to rca converter? CRT monitors are not always practical Are they not using the same proccesor?
rory 0 Posted January 7, 2005 i got a Radeon 64MB DDR Video card here right now, it has DVI and S-Video output, im going to put it in a PC tomorrow that is connected to a 50" Plasma, will let you know how it looks. Right now its using the VGA input on the Plasma but having problems switching between TV and VGA mode, so maybe the S-Video input will work better, its an old Plasma so it doesnt have DVI. VGA picture isnt bad though.
Thomas 0 Posted January 7, 2005 There are some VGA to TV converter boxes, but they look like crap and are painful to set up. There are also some s-video to rca adapators as well.
paranoid 0 Posted January 7, 2005 I have an ati aiw 9800 pro and it does an excellent job of outputting to a tv screen, in fact if wasn't for the slightly unstable drivers I would say its by far the best card I have ever tried. Just my 2p worth
CCTVINSTALLER 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Can you use full screen mode on both ends with the ati 9800 pro? I connected a second monitor via the DVI connector on my video card (9550 pro) and i had to disable directdraw overlay, so i had 2 monitors working but without fullscreen mode, any ideas?
