Opinion on outdoor IR camera

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting an 8-camera setup...

Thinking of doing several cameras with these specs (keep in mind I'm on a fairly low budget):

420 lines high resolution

Sony CCD image sensors

Durable anodized aluminum housing with sun shield

Anti-burst color day and night camera

Long range IR LEDs - 20 IR L.E.D. infrared/60 ft. range

20 Infrared LEDs illuminate even in the darkest areas

0.0 Lux with IR

Weatherproof housing

Adjustable bracket for wall or ceiling mounting

3.6 mm lens for a large coverage

Excellent for outdoor use (-10~50 C)

Advanced Digital Signal Processor(DSP) for image control

Built-in Image Enhancer for ultra clear picture

Rain and fog resistant glass coating protects against extreme weather

Sharp clear image with true clear night vision

48 inch power/video cable

Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) Technology

Auto Gain Control

DC 12V power rating

Load Impedance - 75 Ohms

Requires Connector BNC for installation

One year warranty

Free lifetime technical support

Camera can be seen on [mod edit, removed name of site and .com - no links to stores] under Security Cameras > IR Day/Night. It's the top one (CL-34S) -- Sorry... I can't post links yet...

Anyhow.. will it be decent or terrible?

I just want to be able to make out someone once they get within 10ft or so of my house.

Thanks...

You would not use 8 of the same cameras you need to tailor each camera

for the situation

I only use Sony super HAD and EX-view for consistent results

for example

-front door -IR-cam wide angle [low amount of IR needed] say 4mm lens

-driveway medium angle more IR needed 8mm lens

-rear yard wide angle 'IR illuminator' and criss-crossed daynight cams

-shed small IR cam wide angle

-footpath and street >IR blaster 60 foot range and 50mm lens for close ups and Number plates

If you treat area area separately you wont be buying cameras again

Thanks... what about DVRs...

Is 720x240 sufficient at 30fps per camera or do I need to go with 720x480?

Is there anything I can look at to actually see the difference in the two?
