Question regarding adjusting phase/line lock

Recommended Posts

Been out of the video world for a while. Setting up a 9 channel American Dynamics DVR with AD Cameras and a 24VAC supply. Do the DVR's compensate for vertical sync timing differences if I set my cams for internal sync or do I need to set my camera DIP switches for Line Lock and time the cameras using an o-scope. with the 24VAC? If I time the cameras, can I set them on the bench & ignore the propagation delay of the cable, single runs are less than 100 ft. Advice appreciated, TIA

Never had any problems with line lock yet, just plug and play..

A modern DVR should be fine without any oscilloscope measurements of phase etc. At least, its not something I have ever had a problem with.

Have not had to mess with doing phase adjustment for a while, usually not needed anymore like kensplace said most are plug and play anymore.

The phase or "line lock" adjustment was used with older switchers, recorders and monitors so that when switching from camera-to-camera, the picture would not roll or break up. Modern switchers, DVR/NVR recorders and monitors do not have that problem so it is usually not necessary to touch that adjustment.
