Need help clueless!

Recommended Posts

I currently have a sensormatic system. The multiplexer is 16 channels and a simplex that has 9 channels. I want to purchase a dvr but am on a budget and was thinking I could use a single channel dvr the same way I use the time lapsed vcr that is with the system. Is this possible can a single channel dvr be used in this application as to where I can keep all my cameras and record from the multiplexer and simplex in place of the time lapsed vcr.

This is no brainer... and I know quite of few people that started using this concept and eventually moved up to actual recorder (when their multiplexers actually died)

They are fairly cheap and available from Sanyo, GE, Bosch and even Ganz..

Here are some model to consider:

1. Sanyo DSR-300 - this model does not come with hard drive... You add what you need up to 500GB of PATA drive and it works...

2. Sanyo DSR-M810 - more expensive than above (mainly used by casinos).. again, no hard drive and you can add what you need.

3. Bosch DVR1A1081 - very simple system and comes with built in 80GB hard drive

4. Bosch DVR1C1161 - same as above and comes with 160GB hard drive.

All these options come with full three years warranty... All these options come with Internet ready option.

My personal preference is the first option.. It sales around $300 and the user can add whatever size hard drive then need... Very simple to add hard drive and it does not void warranty...
