stanley356 0 Posted September 16, 2008 Hello, I hope someone can help me!! I'm trying to view my cameras remotely. Right now I am having trouble port forwarding on a 10.10.10.1 ip address (which is the ip address for my router in my store). I currently have AT&T dsl (in my store) and when I bought my linksys router (BEFSR41 v-4), so I could view my cameras remotely, it did not work, so linksys had me manually set my ip adress to 10.10.10.1 The company that I bought my dvr/camera system from says they do not know how to forward on a 10.10.10. I talked to a few people, even people from linksys and they said you can port forward on 10.10.10. The guy from Linksys says you can portforward as long as The last digit should be below the starting IP address,You can enter 10.10.10.8 to 50. I guess I am confused as to what ip do I assign on my DVR, and after I do portforward everything how do I view the cameras remotely. If anyone could help, it would be soooo appreciated!! Thank you in advance!!!
Kiwi 0 Posted September 16, 2008 Why not just list all the current network and forwarding settings on your DVR and router, that way we can help?

Thank you in advance!!! Just follow a port forwarding guide for 192.168.X.X and substitute the correct numbers. 10.XXX.XXX.XXX is just another set of private IP addresses for larger LANs. But that's it.
stanley356 0 Posted September 18, 2008 Hi Kiwi- Thanks for trying to help!! So for my DVR (GenIV) on the network setup, it asks to enter an IP address, which I have no idea what IP I put here, it says to change the last 3 digits and to use something like 198.168.1.123, so would I put 10.10.10.123?? The port to forward is port 8000. I have entered my mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 10.10.10.1 and then the HtpPort: 80. As for my router: I have the linksys router, so when when I enter my router's setup page, I go to application & gaming section...i have one port set to start 8000 and end at 8000...but I have no idea what ip to address to put for it and then I have another port start 80 and end 80 and again, no ip assigned. I guess I am confused as to what ip address to put in all these locations, dvr and port forwarding section. Then once everything is done, how do I view everything remotely? Kiwi 0 Posted September 18, 2008 OK, I read the router manual and this is what I think is correct, assuming you have stuck mostly to the router's default factory settings: DVR IP = 192.168.1.100 (or anything up to .254) Network = 255.255.255.0 Gateway = 192.168.1.1 ROUTER Under "UPnP Forwarding" (not the other that you picked) App = DVR1 Ext Port = 8000 protocol = TCP Int Port = 8000 IP = 100 (or as above) enabled App = DVR2 Ext port = 8000 prototcol = UDP Int port =8000 IP =100 (or as above) enabled You may need to enter another line with both ports = 80 and TCP Now, if you don't have a static internet IP (your ISP can tell you) then you need to set up DDNS. It's pretty simply, yell if you need help. In the meantime you can test it by noting the internet IP in the router status page. Try this and report back! CollinR 0 Posted September 18, 2008 On the setup page of the router you will see the router's IP 10.10.10.1 and below that youwill see the DHCP IP address pool and pool size. Probably looks something like pool size 15 and start address 10.10.10.100 or 10.10.10.10. This would give you a DHCP pool of 15 addresses. You need to pick an address NOT inside the pool but below it. So 10.10.10.2 should work in both cases. Set the DVR IP to: 10.10.10.2 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.10.10.1 DNS 10.10.10.1 On the applications and gaming section of the router use the IP address 10.10.10.2 App = CCTVDVR, Ext Port = 8000, protocol = TCP, Int Port = 8000 IP = 10.10.10.2, enable checked. stanley356 0 Posted September 23, 2008 Ok, so I set up the DVR and the port forwarding following all this: Set the DVR IP to: 10.10.10.2 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.10.10.1 DNS 10.10.10.1 On the applications and gaming section of the router use the IP address 10.10.10.2 App = CCTVDVR, Ext Port = 8000, protocol = TCP, Int Port = 8000 and then after i clicked enable on my router setup page.....i could no longer go online and had to reset my router.....anyone know why? Michelangelo 0 Posted October 15, 2008 What other equipment do you have on the network? Please keep in mind that a router has 2 ip-adresses. One that is visible from outside (internet) and one that is internal on the network.
