gp_george 0 Posted September 16, 2008 hi there,i am not experienced with cctv stuff as i am tv technician.Anyway i want to be involved in an installation of cctv in a friends light aircraft and i am wondering if someone can give me some guidelines. here's the data: need of to cams ,one in the ****pit (a fixed one)and one under the body of the airplane with by hand motion in three axis and zoom also to surroundig action and or in distance objects,ah and not to produce much drag... please advise for a suitable cam type for this purpose and type of movement controler. i have in mind a portable 4ch dvr for these cams with these specs: playback resolution 720x576 at 100fps & rec CIF:25, Frame:6.25, are these specs better than vhs quality or what? thanks in advance, any help will be apreciated
survtech 0 Posted September 16, 2008 I think your biggest problems would be finding a camera that would be able to withstand the wind load of the aircraft in flight and getting the installation certified by regulatory authorities (FAA in the U.S.).
gp_george 0 Posted September 17, 2008 i had in mind the helmet cams used by parachuters or something similar, the aircraft travels as 200km max, not more than a man in freefall i think, the authorization is not an issue cause i am not in usa and in any case is something that the owner will take care. thanks

gp_george 0 Posted September 18, 2008 thanks, you are very helpfull, these dome cameras cannot do the job?what do u think?is there a controlable ptz dome camera?this half bubble shape is ideal and aerodynamicly efficient.I've seen some types but its either or fixed or the controlable ones have much height or a big holding arm.I guess thats all? The wind loads would be a serious problem. Most domes are not able to handle them. It would be the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane.
