drifter 0 Posted September 19, 2008 My adsl wireless router gave up. I bought a new router but this is not adsl and I have it connected to a Smart AX MT882 modem. No problem until I come to setup port forwarding for my GV800 card. Never had a problem before but now the pc's ip address is 192.168.10.202 obtained automatically from the router. The modems ip address is 192.168.1.1. I can't manage to forward the ports. have tried all kinds of permutations but when I try to connect to my cameras I just get the modem setup screen. Any help please.
Guest Posted September 20, 2008 Hi! You probably have to NAT/port Forward ports on both your modem and your router to make it work. JD
drifter 0 Posted September 20, 2008 I have forwarded the ports on the modem to the external ip address of the router and then forwarded the ports through the router to the pc but I still can't get through the modem. Can't see anything that I have done wrong.
Wachhund 0 Posted September 20, 2008 What kind of router are you using? Usually you just forward the ports on the router. If you are using a dyndns, make sure the modems external ip is updated and make sure you have your router set to update it daily. Also, try to set a static ip address behind your router and set the dhcp server of the router to a number lower that the ip address you assign your dvr. rory 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Have you read these: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3287 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12156 As mentioned, also set a static IP on the DVR.
drifter 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Yes I am using DDNs but that is working ok. I also have the pc with the dvr set with a static ip. My problem is getting through the modem. When I connect to my DDns server I connect to my modem setup page.
rory 0 Posted September 20, 2008 The modem may be using the same port for web access, see if you can change that in the modem or even disable it. Eg. Change 80 to 81. Also, try telnet to the DVR ports. eg. Start, Run, Command Promt: telnet ip port Geo Ports for Webcam server: 4550, 5550 (6550 for audio) or custom ports changed by yourself. These must be forwarded to the DVR. So once these ports are forwarded, try telnet: telnet YOURDDNSNAME 4550 Also, make sure on the PC DVR that the ports are open in the windows firewall, if that is enabled (default). drifter 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Sorry forgot to say the router is a Fon. It splits the output into 2 signals. One private and the other for public use (hotspot). Using this then gives free access to many fonspots worldwide. Thought it might be useful. It all works ok except for the cctv and that is more important to me. rory 0 Posted September 20, 2008 I would dump the router for now and just plug the DVR into the modem, change the IP on the DVR ofcourse to match that range. When that works, then add the router back into the equation. Also, I would try with the ISP's IP and not the DDNS, at first. And try telnet, ignore the browser for now. Remember, if the modem has a web interface and port is set to 80, then if you just type in the DDNS in the browser it will goto the modem's interface. So if you set up the DVR with port 81 for the webcam servers HTTP port then you would need to port forward that and then enter YOURDDNSNAME.com:
