bigbuilding 0 Posted September 20, 2008 In a couple cases I have found that when one of my American Dynamics LCD monitors fails and it will not turn on that its usually the internal power supply. I took a good power supply from another monitor and replaced the bad one and the LCD has been working good since. I now have 3 LCD monitors that have same symptom of not turning on. I googled it, looked on EBAY and cannot find anywhere to purchase a power supply for my monitor. There does not seem to be any part numbers on the power supply. My contractor does not like to repair LCD's because a week after repair something else could go wrong. Does anyone know of a source I can find AD power supplies from? CCTV_Suppliers 0 Posted September 20, 2008 We tried the same for a while... Since AD changes manufacturers often, it is very difficult to keep up who makes it and what part they use, including power supplies. Few years ago it was easy - we were able to read names and numbers from the power supplies and found few suppliers who actually stocked them.. However, manufacturers again were changed and now from what we have seen, no writing were found or usable info from replaceable parts. I do not think you can even buy this part directly from AD... Dependent when you bought them, they use to come with three years warranty and only a year ago that the warranty was dropped to one year... so, what I will suggest you do is to call their customer service, give them the product code and the serial number and they should be able to tell you if it is still under warranty.... and it does not matter where you may have bought it.. I know that some distributors were selling these monitors with one year warranty even though it came with three years AD warranty at one point of time... so it is worth to try and see if they may still be covered by AD warranty. Which model LCDs are you using? Even though AD's current warranty policy states one year, they will honor warranty of older monitors if they still are covered... Give it a try and let us know. bigbuilding 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Thanks 75% of our monitors are ADMNM1LCD15 although I have been replacing with 17" monitors recently. Unfortunetly its been about 4 years for these monitors so they are out of warranty. I emailed AD customer support which is usually very helpful. Does it make sense to purchase LCDs that have external power supplies so if they fail replacement is easier and less costly. Not to sound cheap but I rather spend my CCTV budget on new cams not replacing broken monitors.
CCTV_Suppliers 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Well, you impose a very good question... Looks like you got a very good use out of these monitors... so that you know, the same monitor or any monitor from AD, regardless if it is LCD, Plasma or analog, they all come with one year warranty... they changed the warranty policy over a year ago... Unfortunately, you are using these LCDs because of its BNC connection... otherwise same size LCDs costs substantially less. With all the manufacturers that we work with, none has such monitor with external power supply... sorry.. If the space is not a restriction, I will recommend 15" analog monitor, which will give you much better resolution and will cost half as much... There are two models that I can think of right now.. one from American Dynamics and another from Ganz and both sell less than $250.. they come with "flat" analog screens and I like the video resolution on them better than any LCD with the same BNC connection...
