kevnad1966 0 Posted September 26, 2008 We have an existing CCTV system that includes 2 PTZ cameras, both Samsung SCC-643AN models that were running the Samsung protocol half-duplex. We now have a new DVR that is PC based running HIKvision 4.74 (Server) and we are unable to get the PTZ's to respond on the 1 available Samsung protocol on the DVR. The attached RS-485 cabling is correct, as we changed protocols to Pelco-D and we can control the cameras, BUT we cannot set any auto scanning/patrolling using Pelco-D What I would like to get is some input on PTZ protocols that DO support the auto pan/search/patrol feature, as this is an important feature for our security group. Thanks in advance.
kevnad1966 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Our new DVR PC based system is a 32 channel H.264 capable recorder w/4TB (Almost....) storage More importantly, it appears to support numerous PTZ protocols, which is why I'm asking to see which is best/better. I want to avoid changing the protocols on the 2 PTZ's which would involve getting a bucket lift out to the parking lot and........... lots of hassle

It may be a limitation of either the DVR or the cameras, but not with the protocol.
kevnad1966 0 Posted September 26, 2008 I think you are correct; I have a protocol sheet for the SCC-643 cameras and it appears it is the cameras that are limited with the Pelco-D protocol. I'll look back at the other protocols and see which ones appear to support the auto panning
kevnad1966 0 Posted September 26, 2008 I had another thought The SCC-643 PTZ's were previously programmed with the Samsung protocol........ could they have possibly kept the programming within the camera? If so, is it possible to retrieve and "run" the preset scans using the Pelco-D protocol that is currently on those cameras?
kevnad1966 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Using the KCT-2500 PTZ keyboard and the Pelco-D protocol, I was able to access the PTZ camera menus, but little else............ I appears that these Samsung PTZ's have limited Pelco-D support, which I presume is why Samsung has their own protocol Called the DVR folks and I now have a short list of DVR supported protocols other than Samsung for PTZ auto pan/scan functions that the cameras already support and will test this week. Whew

Bramshaw 0 Posted October 21, 2011 We have also had the same infuriating problem with our SCP-3120 VH PTZ cameras. WE were told a number of things as above and that Pelco D could control them etc etc, that the digital flip switch could reverse the picture which it can't, you could adjust colour which you can't, etc etc so to make things short I will paste a reply from the company that Samsung have outsourced all their technical queries to. If anyone can prove me wrong about the pelco-D protocol I would love to hear from you. All an all Samsung is an extremely poor company to deal with, very little customer support and it seems the staff have no knowledge as to who does what in the company. ---------------------------------------- Quote: I forwarded this question to our senior technician and get reply as below: Firstly, Samsung SCP-3120VH PTZ camera has a digital flip function. But this is for the tilt range 100-185. If you have to install the camera upside down, you can turn off the digital flip but user have to use tilt range between 100 to 185. Secondly, if you want to go into the OSD menu of the Samsung cameras, you need Samsung controller or Samsung DVR. Thirdly, when you used the Samsung controller, it has to work correctly. If it didn't, you better bring the camera and controller to supplier and test with them.
