FxStuntDriver 0 Posted October 15, 2008 Hello, I am in a big dilemma... Should I sacrifice a higher TVL resolution for the Ex-view technology? I can get for almost the same price a: 1) 1/3" Sony Ex-view HAD color CCD, 0.08Lux, 480TVL, 3.5-8mm auto iris 2) 1/3" Sony Super HAD color CCD, 0.8Lux, 550TVL, 3.5-8mm auto iris Would I get a better resolution from camera 1 as oppose to camera 2? Thank you!
VST_Man 1 Posted October 16, 2008 no. resolution is it's own spec and cannot be improved via exview technology. BUT, the lower lux equals more light sensitivity which equals a better night pic. BUT, some camera's, depending on manufacture, can be nice pics or poor pics with grainy type results. Manufactures and advertising are a huge problem in this industry. I'd say 75% of the advertisement out there is not accure and 50% of that is flat out lies. Buyer beware! You either have good sources of supply or you get good at shipping things back until you find a good source of supply. I've seen lowertvl outperform highertvl cameras. low lux cameras with identical specs seem like night & day.that's a punn listing one cameras specs against another is not a good method. search the forum, read the comparrisions, and buy what comes out ontop as required for your need. ps.........ALL camera's have limits. knowing those limits allows a professional to install the right camera for the right location/need
