f05bf1c2 0 Posted November 13, 2008 i am going to put up six PTZ cameras on my farm to monitor cows calving. i just need to be able to monitor them at the moment but i may want to set up remote viewing in the future. Do i need to get IP cameras for me to be able to do this? I dont no much about CCTV so anything will help. Thanks
VST_Man 1 Posted November 14, 2008 you don't need 6 ptz's to view calving. just put up some decent ir weather proof domes........ IP cams? depends on how you are getting the pic to you monitor. how far is the barn to the dvr? DVR to the house? are you running rg or cat5? 6 ptz's for calving? I could see a cat house but not a barn.
msnancy 0 Posted November 14, 2008 first you should tell the size of your farm ,then can get useful suggestions, generally speaking, if the surveillance size is not so big, we suggest wired solutions, that mean use wired weatherproof camera and DVR connected by wires, because this method is a frugal way, if adopt IP solution ,the investment will be a little higher. If you have not found satisfied solution ,PM me, we will happy to help
