Dvr audio choppy

I have a Speco DVR16TN/1.5TB with one channel set up for audio monitoring. When using their software , live works great but the recorded audio is choppy, in a rhythmic manner. I am accessing the dvr over our network and since the video and audio are fine over the network when live I am assuming I have the proper bandwith. I have the record set up at 720x240 60 PPS mpeg. I am thinking the frame rate is my problem and can go to 352x240 120 PPS mpeg but doing so reformats my hard drives and I loose all the old data. I know also the maximum amount of data I can save will be affected with the change. Right now I get about 15 days. My other options are 740x 480 30 PPS jpeg and 720x240 60PPS jpg. Are there any other settings I should look at ? Thanks.
