jsingh 0 Posted November 15, 2008 First of all I would like to thank members of the forum, specially rory and Scorpion. Rory for the topic "How to tweak the PC" and for giving some insight into port forwarding. Scorpion for the detailed information on port forwarding and the web site links. Now when my Geovision dvr system is up and running and remote view is working fine, I am getting concerned about online security of the System. I would greatly appreciate if anybody could tell me: - How to secure the system from virus attacks, from adware, melaware etc. - Which is the best internet security package for a PC dvr among Norton, CA, Macafee etc. - Are there any more tweaks we can do in the PC itself, like Firewall settings, internet options etc... to protect the system. Thank you again for your immense help.
scorpion 0 Posted November 15, 2008 I am a not an IT guy, so I will defer to those who specialize in that area. I would probably get a product like Sonic Wall to give you a fire wall. What do you think?
rory 0 Posted November 16, 2008 Hi, did you see this link yet? (not sure if that is the tweak thread you mentioned) http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=14377 Basically: Enable Windows Firewall - add the Geo Ports. Enable TCP/IP Filtering - select permit only for each one, in TCP add the Geo Ports. I can go into more detail on these if you need. ofcourse security is also increased with removal/disabling of certain services and windows features.
