geoalien 0 Posted November 15, 2008 Okay guys, I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer to this. Currently I have an Accudome (Sony PTZ) set up with software 8.1 and working great. The PTZ control is through the Geovision GV-COM RS-485 -> USB converter. I have the + and - connected through a 3 in 1 cable from the camera to the GV-COM box. I wish to add a second camera of the exact same make and model to the system. Obviously I have the two cameras set to 2 different addresses. My question is this: I am using a second 3 in 1 cable for the second camera. Do I simply add the second pair of RS-485 connectors to the GV-COM box? I.e. just stack to the two leads into the connectors? Thanks in advance for any help.
bike_rider 0 Posted November 15, 2008 Multiple cameras should be wired in parallel. If the wires fit with a good connection, your solution should work.
geoalien 0 Posted November 15, 2008 Distance between camera 1 and camera 2 would preclude wiring in parallel as I've seen the diagrams that came with the GV-COM box. So by stacking the two connectors at the box, isn't that basically (almost) the same as a true parallel setup (assuming a good connection as you mentioned)?
