mateck8888 0 Posted November 26, 2008 Problem Hello: I'm new to this form, but have spent a lot of time reading the forums, and I hope that someone here can point me in the right direction on a project. I am working on replacing 5 old Windows 2000 DVR servers in a jail. Currently, each camera goes to a BNC splitter, and sends video to both the DVRs and then a very old Bosch Allegient matrix switcher. That switcher offers the guard booth 4 general NTSC monitors, and one spot monitor. This is for 80 cameras. They can only see 5 at one time! I want to get away form the Bosch Allegient system, and just use five new DVRs with something like Geovisions Call center V2. That would work fine for the 4 general monitors, which not could display 16 or 32 cameras each, but my big problem is with the spot monitor. It is set up to display live video every time an inmate presses a call button. It stays on that video until another call button is pressed. With Geovision, and AverMedia, this can be done, but the window is NOT FULL SCREEN. For example, with Geovision, the minimum configuration is 6 windows, not to mention the alarm data is also displayed. The guards only want to see one large video window in that monitor. I really want to get rid of the Allegient because I don’t like to split the video with BNC “t’ connectors, and the Allegient is hard to service, and expensive to repair/replace. I have Alnet working on this today, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions. I kind of like staying with the DVR card concept, because it is very affordable. Thanks!
