f05bf1c2 0 Posted November 30, 2008 Sorry for wasting your time but i have a question. is there any difference in using solid or stranded catv to transmit video? im putting up cameras at home and i was going to order outdoor FTP cable for a 200 metre run but dont no wheather to get solid or stranded? Okinawamike 0 Posted November 30, 2008 CATV Cable is not a good idea for CCTV systems. CATV cable has an outer shielding that causes interferance. A solid center is better with 95% copper braiding. If you are installing a camera that moves (PTZ), then the stranded center conductor is better. RG-59 for under 200 meters, RG-6 for longer runs. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
