code2medic 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Hi every first time posting as now i need a little help I have outdoor day/night bullet cameras made by swann, the cameras work just fine with the supplied 33 ft bnc wire tho I needed the wire longer as 33 ft just isn't enough for any home that i know of. So i ordered 100ft wire bnc tested the cameras before running and fishing wires through my walls and i have come across a rather interesting issue. They are crystal clear in the day but as soon as it gets dark outside it looks as if there is some kind of interference going on. on just shows all black with white lines going through it and another one shows the picture but has white lines running down the side of the screen, and sometimes just goes black and does the same thing as the other bullet camera. If anyone needs pictures post / or even a video to see what i am talking about i can get that up as well. Thanks Tom
Jim Barrett 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Please post video. Do I understand that you tested these w/ the extension cables before you installed them & that they worked? I kinda suspect these are the Swann cameras that we would call "low end"? Problem only occurs at night?
kensplace 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Do these have inbuilt IR? If they do maybe the extra cable is causing to much voltage drop so when the IR kicks in, the extra current pulls the voltage down below the minimum the camera needs?

I kinda suspect these are the Swann cameras that we would call "low end"? Problem only occurs at night? Here is the camera that I have that has been great for a year now until I did the extension on the house thus requiring the longer cable swann bullet camera 420 line etc etc I should have said when tested with the 100ft they worked fine in the day and to not working correctly at night (i.e noise of some kind) example video: I guess I can not embed youtube videos so search youtube for code2medic as i can not post links either Do these have inbuilt IR? Yes sir they have Built in IR
RickA 0 Posted December 1, 2008 I would agree with Kensplace, this sounds like a voltage/ amperage issue, not enough power to the camera's when th IR kicks on. Are they 12vdc or 24vac?
code2medic 0 Posted December 2, 2008 Well after you guys advised of it being under powered I took a look around and found some a/c adapters plug them the two cameras in for the hell of it and wouldn't you guys believe it You were right they were under powered and clear as days now here's a video to show The Fixed video is under Code2medic At youtube once it is back online Thanks again guys/ladies
