phoenixcoachworks 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Hi all... new to this so please be patient,,,, Just setting up my DVR for remote monitoring, its an unknown brand i guess... RAYSTAR. In the DVR i have set up the static ip address and subnet but i am not sure what port to set it up on. the default is set to 80. The DVR comes with its own viewer, which will be fine if i am viewing on my laptop, but i also wish to view it from anywhere without the software but using Internet explorer. Is this possible? I think i understand the basics of what port forwarding is and how it works but i cant quite figure out what port to use, so here are my questions... 1. Do i have to use port 80 if i want to view using IE 2. How do i view using IE? i know about entering the ip:port in address bar, but what will that bring up? dvisystems1 0 Posted December 2, 2008 you can change port 80 only if the dvr software gives you the option to change it in its network configuration settings say 8000 if accessing from internet explorer: if set to 80 only put the ip addres in if changed to 8000 enter ip address thn:8000 ate end of the ip address remote software access should have it own ports for example 5100 etc.. coolie11 0 Posted December 2, 2008 1.You can use what ever port you like, but I recommend not using port 80. 2. In order to access the DVR through a web browser like IE the unit needs to have a built in web server. I wasn't able to find any info on that unit so I'm not sure what it's capabilities are, maybe you can post some specs or further info. Where are all these different brands popping up from? phoenixcoachworks 0 Posted December 2, 2008 CANT GET THE LINK TO POST... google RAYSHARP D6009 it comes up on a website called reliabledvr The current setting i have in the dvr are.. ip add 192.168.2.45 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.2.1 dns1 149.0.0.0 dns2 0.0.0.0 port 3333 I am using a belkin router. model number F5D7230-4 i have tried putting the 192.168.2.45 IP IN THE dmz firewall is open to 3333 I am waiting for a static ip from my isp,(thursday) but my current dynamic ip has not changed in several weeks so i am cheating at telling it i have a static ip at the moment. could that be the problem due to subnet being different? I am going away on holiday soon and really need to get this up and running urgently. Any help would be greatly appreciated Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
scorpion 0 Posted December 2, 2008 What issues you are having with the internet are with the router. If you are in the DMZ then you should see video. There is no manual to download from that site, so I am in the dark. Troubleshooting starts like this. 1. Cross over cable to the DVR directly to a computer. This will verify the internal built in server is operational. 2. Connect computer and DVR back to your router. You should be able to see local video. (NOTE: If you see local video then skip step one). 3. From an outside source (or calling someone) come in to your outside IP address (www.ipchicken.com) Once you establish video with numrical IP address then those of you can use your dyndns style accounts. Do not try your internet ip address (wan) from the same site as your DVR. 4. Test dyndns / noip / ect style accounts. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

What is the problem you're having? 2. What Internet connection type are you using? 3. Is the public IP address set in the router? 4. I can access the DVR via the client software and ie from within my work LAN although in ie i used 192.168.2.64 an ip which i found in the router. I definatly cannot ping my work router from home.. Your problem is with your setup. You need to set your DSL Modem to bridge mode and input your DSL User Name and Password in PPPOE settings n the router. As mentioned before you need to change the settings in the modem and the router for this to work, 10Min tops. You will need to be at the site to make these changes.
