dmac1971 0 Posted December 16, 2008 Hi has anyone had dealings with Intercom over IP. We have a DVR's with a number of cameras on a number of remote sites. When we detect someone doing something they shouldnt we would like to be able to either play a sound file or speak to the site directly. The DVR's and Cams are already in place so they cant be changed, ideally it would be something that can sit on top. The TX side would be in a control room miles away, the delivery to the site would be over DSL. We may also require 2 way conversation on additional sites as well. Is there a solution that allows us to use say a piece of software on a PC connected to a IOIP server that will allow us to manage multiple sites at once? Thanks in advance. Erron S. 0 Posted December 16, 2008 As far as I know, you'll need -something- on the other side (the store location) to respond. We typically do this with our DVR as the acknowleding device, but it sounds like the DVR's you have in place don't do this? Without going to a full blown intercom system like Intercol, you may be able to use a freebee system like Skype. You would need someone or something to acknowledge the call on the other end, but I'd bet you could program their VOIP phone to auto answer for this scenario. scorpion 0 Posted December 17, 2008 Is the DVR set for motion detection? Can a camera be set to catch people without causing a lot of false alarms? Can you take a digital annunciator and create what you need? The DVR motion detection can trigger the annunciator that has a prerecorded "speech" that you have recorded in to the device. You could also use a PIR detector to trigger the board. You could use a pressure pad (doormat) to trigger the board. What do you think? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
thewireguys 3 Posted December 17, 2008 You could use a Axis video encoder and just take advantage of the audio or put it inline with one of the cameras. The encoder will give you two way (full or half-duplex) or one-way audio over IP. Hookup whatever mic and speaker you would need and you can have a 2-way conversation on any computer.
