jeromephone 6 Posted January 10, 2009 We have a couple of door cameras in an apt complex they are using a couple of unused channels to provide a view from the apts to the doors. As people are getting there new digital boxes thy can no longer see these channels. Is there a new type of modulator avaliable? I can change cameras if necessary but I am at a loss as how to utilize the unused channels after the digital transistion is complete. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
scorpion 0 Posted January 10, 2009 New technology, and new problems! You cannot modulate in to digital TV. The cable company can now "inject" 10 tv channels in to the place where only one channel used to reside. The new trick of the trade is to have a switching device. The IR control is sent via the cable. It is basically an A/B switch. This will allow you to view the modulated picture without trashing the whole digital system for the other TVs throughout the house. The procedure is simple depending on the original installation, and attic access ect. In single story homes you can go in to an attic where the cable feed comes in right at the splitter, or amp. You insert this product between the cable feed, and the splitter. scorpion 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Using the A/B device will be a little tricky. If you have the A/B device at the head end then when one apt "request" to see the camera then everyone will see the camera, and they will lose the football game they were watching, and all chaos will break out! Jim Barrett 0 Posted January 19, 2009 Interesting problem. Sounds like one I'm likely to have and I'm racking my brain, now that it's been brought up, and can't see a solution. Older installations often ran double coax for reasons of their own but I'm seeing that less and less. Having said that, if anybody can figure it out it'll be Scorpion. I got faith in ya man.
