Fry 0 Posted January 14, 2009 I live in a Condo and have underground parking. I would like to keep an eye on my car through my work/home computer as there have been some break ins. Here’s what I would like, but since I am a CCTV n00b, I am not entirely sure if this is feasible. Hook up a wireless camera aimed at my car that I can view over the internets. But, since outlets would be a dead giveaway, and I am not sure if there are any near where my car is, what would I power this off of? And the garage is thick concrete, so I am not sure how difficult it would be to get a wireless signal to my home computer which is on the 1st floor. Is this even possible? If so, what are my options? Otherwise, I may just install a camera in my car....and run the power off of my battery or a secondary battery.
Soundy 1 Posted January 15, 2009 You're not likely to get a signal through that concrete (which isn't JUST concrete - remember there's a nice rebar mesh in there too). You COULD look at something in an ethernet-over-power system, it MIGHT work, depending on how the electrical is laid out in your building. Something in-car might be the best way to go, though. Take a look at Memocam's products - covert cameras with built-in recording to flash (SD) cards. There are others as well, that's just one that came immediately to mind
