CoolDude 0 Posted January 22, 2009 Any quick way of guestimating the hard drive capacity required to record 12 hours of medium activity motion at 7.5 FPS per camera x 16 cameras in order to have 6 months of data at a standard quality. My head exploded when I tried to even guess at it.
shoreviewsecurity 0 Posted January 22, 2009 As per our HD calculator, I have attached 3 images, CIF, 2CIF and D1. Of course rough estimate and many variables will influence this but hope this makes your head feel better. Hope it helps Mike
Soundy 1 Posted January 25, 2009 Sounds about right... one site, I have 23 cameras at D1 and an average of 4fps, and five 1.3MP IP cams at 4fps, all motion-record, and for 90 days' retention, we needed to get to 9.5TB of storage.
InNorthernWeTrust 0 Posted January 26, 2009 Our website has links to a number of useful tools on it, including storage calculators. http://www.northernvideo.com/public/resource.aspx?ad=events.aspx# Beyond the two listed there, I usually use DNF's as it seems to be the most comprehesive. Though you need to provide your information to them. http://www.dnfsecurity.com/resources.asp/section/Reading~Room/category/Technical~Information/options/IP~Cam~Storage~Calculator
